You’ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact in a child’s life, develop leadership skills, be creative, work with friends, and enjoy weekends off!</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">JOB SUMMARY</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Manager and Camp Directors, the Turf &amp; Surf Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, preparing, and participating in camp activities. These positions run for 8 weeks, in addition to training days scheduled prior to the start of camp. Camp Counselors will work with children ranging in age from 9-13 years, in groups of 5-20 campers. Activities include but are not limited to; swimming, completing crafts, group games, table activities, nature activities, gym activities, and much more. Counselors are expected to interact with campers throughout their entire shift, lead and/or assist with activities, be a team-player, and ensure campers are always safe. Additional duties include behavior management, clean-up of the camp staff room, craft/activity prep, and other duties as assigned. This is an at-will position. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Turf &amp; Surf Camp Dates:    </span>June 15th - August 7th </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Orientation Dates:  </span>Starting in Mid-May with details to follow. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hours:</span>     Monday – Friday availability between 8:00am – 4:00pm </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Location:     </span>Main St. Rec. Center, 501 Hill Ave., AND Spring Ave. Rec. Center, 185 Spring Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\"><em>PLEASE NOTE:  Expectation is that you will be available for the entire 8-week program with a limit of one week of absence for a scheduled family vacation or similar that should be discussed at time of hire. Various shift options are available and can be discussed during the interview process.</em></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to swim and pass a swim test with comfort and confidence being in the water with campers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to ride a bicycle, provide your own bike, and pass a bicycle safety test. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to bike three to five miles one way, up to ten miles round trip. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to assist campers with bike adjustments, including seat height and minor repairs, such as chain resets.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities including water-based games and activities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Able to maintain attention, high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Specific vision abilities required, to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to properly lead bike rides, navigate roads and follow signage, interpret equipment function/readings, complete recordkeeping, etc.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Strong voice and listening skills with the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds (i.e. vehicles/machinery, alarms/sirens, phone or other communication device, etc.)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to spend majority of the time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions including high heat and humidity.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Capable of lifting, moving and/or carrying up to 25 pounds, such as backpacks or biking gear.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The ideal candidate will be outgoing, reliable, self-motivated, and creative with a strong interest in working with children. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Must be 16 years of age or older. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Prior experience working with children of multiple ages is recommended. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Previous camp experience is a plus. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Preference given to candidates working towards a degree in education, recreation, or similar field. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to effectively communicate with participants, their parents, and the public. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to maintain discretion regarding confidential matters and/or information.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication with the aptitude to learn and use other applications. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif;
