    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p>The Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC) utilizes healthcare knowledge, expertise, independent industry</p>\n<p>specific judgement and medical protocols to coordinate all aspects of organ donation for transplant and</p>\n<p>research in the Cascade Life Alliance (CLA) Donor Service Area (DSA) hospitals in Oregon, southern</p>\n<p>Washington, and southwest Idaho.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Core duties of this position in support of the mission and goals of CLA include: to assessment and evaluation</p>\n<p>of potential organ donors, communication with donor families, direction of clinical management of the organ</p>\n<p>donor, evaluation and placement of organs for transplant, coordination of the organ recovery process with</p>\n<p>transplant and medical teams, and assistance of those teams with the surgical recovery and transportation of</p>\n<p>organs for transplant and research.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position is based in Southern Oregon. </p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Uses independent judgment and established parameters to screen for potential organ, tissue, and eye donation in all DSA hospitals; conducts donor management in ICU; places organs for transplant and assist with organ recovery; completes required donor follow up.</p></li>\n <li>Interdisciplinary collaboration \n  <ul>\n   <li>Collaborates with the Donation and Family Advocate (DFA) team to facilitate authorization or disclosure with the legal NOK and accurately conducts a donor risk assessment interview with identified surrogate of the potential organ donor. </li>\n   <li>Collaborates with the Hospital Development department to ensure customer service needs are met for donor hospital partners. </li>\n   <li>Collaborates with the Quality Assurance department to ensure charts are completed and highest industry standards met. </li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><p>Collaboration and communication with external partners</p>\n  <ul>\n   <li><p>Provides real-time education to hospital staff about the donation process.</p>\n    <ul>\n     <li><p>Collaborates with transplant centers and transplant teams through the allocation and recovery process.</p></li>\n    </ul></li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Participates in meetings as requested by the department manager. </li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned by the AOC and CLA leadership. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's Degree in Science with healthcare related focus or equivalent experience, </li>\n <li>2 years recent relevant clinical or donation related experience or equivalent.</li>\n <li>Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Extensive clinical healthcare knowledge base, with the ability to quickly and independently exercise sound clinical judgement in an often stressful environment. </li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills, flexible, highly motivated, a good team member with a positive attitude. </li>\n <li>Must be able to work in an adaptive fashion with a wide range of professional and nonprofessional constituents including but not limited to governmental officials, students, healthcare staff and the public. </li>\n <li>Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>American Board for Transplant Certification CPTC credential. </li>\n <li>Organ procurement coordinator experience. </li>\n <li>Direct patient care experience in a critical care environment </li>\n <li>CPTC certification as an Organ Donation Coordinator. </li>\n <li>Required within two years of hire. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p>The ODC works for 12–24-hour period and may travel via commercial aircraft and vehicle.</p>\n<p>Clinical call for 24-hour periods and be able to function for extended hours in an intense, high-paced environment. Must be able to lift 80 lbs.
