Description

The Senior Project Geologist is responsible for leading and managing geological programs across exploration, resource development, and project evaluation stages. This role provides technical leadership, ensures high-quality geological data collection and interpretation, and supports decision-making related to resource growth, mine planning, and project advancement. The position requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior geologists while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Key Areas of Responsibility &   Duties: Technical & Geological Responsibilities Plan, execute, and supervise exploration and project-stage geological programs including mapping, sampling, drilling, and geophysical activities. Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to define mineralization controls and targets. Develop and refine geological models, cross-sections, and 3D interpretations. Contribute to mineral resource estimation inputs and reviews in collaboration with resource geologists. Provide geological support to mine planning, grade control, and feasibility studies where applicable. Project & Program Management Manage exploration and project budgets, schedules, and contractor performance. Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimates for drilling and related activities. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Coordinate with drilling contractors, surveyors, environmental teams, and other technical disciplines. Leadership & Supervision Supervise, train, and mentor junior geologists, technicians, and field assistants. Ensure accurate data collection, validation, and storage in geological databases. Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to company policies and procedures. Reporting & Compliance Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and updates for management and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, environmental regulations, and company standards. Contribute to internal and external technical reviews, audits, and due diligence activities. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Lead by example in safety compliance and risk management. Ensure geological activities comply with environmental management plans and permitting conditions. Participate in incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.   Participate in incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Skill Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (required). Master’s degree in Economic Geology or related field (advantageous). Working Experience – Minimum  8–12 years  of progressive experience in mining or mineral exploration. Proven experience managing exploration or development-stage projects. Strong background in structurally controlled and/or disseminated mineral systems (gold or base metals preferred). Experience working in remote or tropical environments is an advantage. Additional qualifications/Competency Requirements - Strong geological interpretation and analytical skills. Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Leapfrog,   Surpac , Datamine,   Micromine , ArcGIS). Solid understanding of QA/QC procedures and data management systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities. Strong organizational and project management skills.
