    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Job Description:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Under the direction of the Department Manager, Safety and Training, the Safety and Training Administrator&nbsp;<span> </span>responsible for assisting in the development, preparation, and implementation of safety training programs and materials; training individuals in bus operations; providing both classroom and behind the wheel training/retraining of Pace's Standard Operating Procedures and defensive driving curriculum; investigating accidents/incidents and tracking trends; performing property, vehicle safety, and security inspections/audits; developing and preparing reports; tracking DOT and CDL requirements; coordinating awards programs and banquets; and performing other duties as assigned. Must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Local travel to other operating divisions is required. Core functions include:</p><ol><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Provides both classroom and behind the wheel training / retraining of Pace’s Standard Operating Procedures and defensive driving curriculum to Pace and contractor employees.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Assists in the design, preparation, and implementation of safety and security procedures, programs, requirements, manuals, and other training materials.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Performs property and vehicle safety and security inspections/audits.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Verifies proper license and/or permit status and documents training administered. Reviews MVRs for Pace and contract employees. Provides guidance to operating division safety departments.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Performs analysis and preventability assessments of contractor accidents.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Coordinates National Safety Council safety awards program, banquets, and other related activities.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Assists in bus movements, CNG training, and SWAT team exercises.</li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ol><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p><strong>Age:</strong></p><p>Must be 21 years of age or older.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Education:</strong></p><p>A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associates degree is preferred.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Experience:</strong></p><p>Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience working in safety and/or training for public transportation including experience in investigating, assessing, and grading accidents.&nbsp;</p><p>Familiarity with Pace fixed routes, paratransit operations, and service area, and familiarity with OSHA regulations and ADA regulations as they apply to public transportation is required.&nbsp;</p><p>Familiarity with Pace Safety Training and Pace Standard Operating Procedures is preferred.</p><p><strong>Licenses/Certifications:</strong></p><p>Must possess an Illinois Class \"B\" CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement for a minimum of 1 year immediately prior to date of hire.&nbsp;</p><p>Must be capable of obtaining an Illinois Class A CDL Driver’s license. Must possess and maintain a DOT medical examiner's certificate.
