Description

Company Overview: MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification. We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control. We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation. Position Overview: MP Materials is seeking a Magnet Technology Technician to work in a one-of-a-kind magnet facility with world-class development equipment. The Magnet Technology Technician will support development of the technology and commercial-scale manufacturing footprint required to make high-performance permanent magnets for cutting-edge applications. This position will support key projects across a broad range of initiatives, including development of materials for optimum performance, manufacturing process development and optimization, and more. This is an opportunity to be a part of the development team driving the creation of an advanced manufacturing facility and helping to define the future of American manufacturing. Position Responsibilities: Conduct experiments utilizing furnaces, metal processing equipment, machining equipment, gloveboxes, and wet chemical processes. Execute test plans, make detailed observations, and communicate observations to leaders and teammates. Install, commission, and operate equipment safely and properly. Develop documentation for experimental procedures. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment. Maintain safe work practices. Basic Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Applied Science or related field, OR 3+ years of related experience. Entry level/Technical role: Advanced academic degrees are not required for consideration. Experience operating laboratory and/or manufacturing equipment. Familiarity with computers and data entry and analysis. Desired Qualities: Experience working with metals, powders, chemicals, gloveboxes, furnaces, and/or machining equipment. Knowledge of basic metallurgy, machining, and/or chemical processes and equipment. Strong technical and communication skills to coordinate working with a variety of teammates, execute technical trials, and document processes and results. Hands-on, detail-oriented person who can solve problems, exercise sound judgement, and act autonomously in his/her daily work.
