    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\">Head Cheerleading Coach – Varsity- FALL &amp; WINTER</span><br>Sussex Central High School – Sussex County Public Schools<br><br></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Reports To:</span></span><span> Athletic Director / Principal</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Position Summary:</span></span></p>\n<p><span>To provide leadership, organization, and supervision for the Sussex Central High School varsity cheerleading program. The Head Cheerleading Coach is responsible for all aspects of the program, including practice planning, skill development, game-day and competition preparation, supervision of assistant coaches, student-athlete safety, and compliance with VHSL and school division policies.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Key Responsibilities:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span>Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, conditioning sessions, and team activities for the varsity cheerleading program.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Teach and develop cheerleading fundamentals, including motions, jumps, stunts, tumbling, crowd-leading techniques, choreography, and performance skills appropriate to student-athlete ability levels.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Develop and implement routines and performances for athletic events, pep rallies, school functions, and VHSL-sanctioned competitions.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Promote school spirit and serve as a positive ambassador for Sussex Central High School at athletic and community events.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches while coordinating responsibilities within the coaching staff.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Monitor and enforce team rules, discipline, attendance, and conduct consistent with school, division, and VHSL policies.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Ensure student-athlete safety by teaching proper techniques, monitoring stunt progression, enforcing safety standards, and adhering to concussion and emergency response protocols.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Coordinate participation in football games, basketball games, competitions, camps, clinics, and other approved events.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Maintain accurate records of athlete eligibility, attendance, competition requirements, and VHSL documentation.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, faculty, administration, and the athletic department.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Coordinate fundraising activities and team-building opportunities in accordance with school division guidelines.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Manage team equipment, uniforms, inventory, ordering, maintenance, and storage.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Attend required VHSL rules clinics, coaching education programs, and maintain all required certifications.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Promote academic achievement, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development among student-athletes.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Assist with recruitment and development of future cheerleaders through collaboration with middle school and youth programs when appropriate.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Represent Sussex Central High School and Sussex County Public Schools in a professional and positive manner within the community.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Qualifications:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span>Experience coaching and/or participating in cheerleading at the high school level or higher preferred.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Demonstrated knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, stunt progression, competition preparation, and safety regulations.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Familiarity with VHSL rules, eligibility requirements, and cheerleading compliance standards.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Teaching certification preferred (may vary by school division).</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Compliance with all background checks, school division hiring requirements, and VHSL coaching certifications.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Work Conditions:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span>Practices, games, competitions, camps, and events held after school, evenings, weekends, and school holidays.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Travel required for away games, competitions, and team events.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Seasonal stipend position (supplemental contract) unless otherwise assigned additional duties.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Indoor and outdoor work environments require extended periods of standing, physical activity, and active supervision.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Performance Standards:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span>Full compliance with VHSL regulations and Sussex County Public Schools policies regarding eligibility, safety, and ethical conduct.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Establishes and maintains a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture focused on excellence and school pride.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Reliability in attending practices, games, competitions, meetings, and professional development opportunities.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Maintains effective communication with athletic administration, staff, student-athletes, and parents.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Ensures proper care and maintenance of uniforms, equipment, and facilities.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Demonstrates measurable program growth in athlete development, leadership, sportsmanship, school spirit, and competitive
