Job Summary
East Tennessee State University is seeking a dynamic and strategic Assistant Athletic Director (AD) for Revenue Generation to lead, coordinate, and grow all athletics-generated revenue streams, excluding private charitable gifts and traditional fundraising. This position is responsible for maximizing earned and transactional revenues that directly support the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics while enhancing the fan, student, and community experience.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant AD for Revenue Generation will oversee revenue strategy, execution, and innovation across ticket sales, marketing-driven revenue, premium seating, game-day revenue, and digital/brand monetization. The ideal candidate will have proven sales experience with a proactive and creative approach to increasing revenue.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the evolving college athletics business landscape, including NIL, conference realignment, and media rights trends
Understanding of data-driven ticketing, sponsorship, and fan engagement strategies
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and revenue data to inform strategy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging internal and external stakeholders
Relationship management and partnership development skills
Ability to lead and motivate revenue-generating teams
Ability to collaborate effectively with campus stakeholders, corporate partners, and external vendors
Ability to develop and implement strategic revenue growth initiatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a closely related field
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in sales, revenue generation, or partnership development
Must be able to show proven effective sales experience with preestablished quotas.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
Experience generating revenue within collegiate athletics, professional sports or corporate America.
Experience working within or alongside multimedia rights partnerships, NIL environments, and data ticketing strategies
