    "description": "<h2>Description</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Assessing ISP and OSP for both fiber and copper against planned network infrastructure upgrades and making layer 1 recommendations to support layers 2-7 architectures</li>\n <li>Scoping, building bill of materials, receiving, accounting for and installing SM and MM fiber as well as copper as needed throughout base office buildings, warehouses, production facilities and other related spaces</li>\n <li>Applying fiber and copper best practices to define a baseline </li>\n <li>Performing installation of structured cabling systems (fiber optic and copper)</li>\n <li>Ensuring grounding and bonding are compliant with applicable standards and codes</li>\n <li>Performing testing and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems</li>\n <li>Ensuring transmission fundamentals of copper and fiber media are maintained</li>\n <li>Ensuring rodding, roping, and fiber splicing and tipping are properly performed</li>\n <li>Troubleshooting communications systems to determine if problems are related to hardware or cabling</li>\n <li>Testing and evaluating newly installed or existing hardware to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility</li>\n <li>Using technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements</li>\n <li>Visiting vendors to learn about available products, enhancements, or services</li>\n <li>Compiling, reviewing and/or submitting drawing updates, reports, such as site reports or project status reports</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>#LI-LH1</em></p>\n<h2>Requirements</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Five plus years of related telecommunications experience working as a Cable Technician within a DoD IT environment</li>\n <li>Must be familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards</li>\n <li>Must be well versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters</li>\n <li>Experience analyzing, administering, and maintaining a telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure</li>\n <li>Experience dressing, terminating, and testing cables and component, must have ability to work with power tools and ladders</li>\n <li>Experience testing, locating, installing, and repairing cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls and performing routine maintenance</li>\n <li>Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing voice and data communications systems</li>\n <li>Experience identifying, tracking, and removing abandoned cable and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety stand</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Desired Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Familiary with DoD processes and environments</li>\n <li>FOA or BICSI certifications are a plus, but not required</li>\n <li>Familiarity with using an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and power meters to test signal loss and map cable routes</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Clearance Information</h2>\n<p><strong>SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL</strong></p>\n<h2>Travel Requirements</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Expected <25% on average, but will vary</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>About Us</h2>\n<p>Scientific Research Corporation is an advanced information technology and engineering company that provides innovative products and services to government and private industry, as well as independent institutions.
