You will work with other managers and technical leads to manage software development work in a highly collaborative organization. You will use SAS product knowledge and software construction expertise to ensure project work you oversee is completed to a high standard of quality and with innovative coding solutions. You will be responsible for scoping, scheduling, and overseeing work projects up to medium complexity.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>As a Software Development Manager, you will:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be responsible for day-to-day team operations and priorities.</li>\n <li>Handle management responsibilities for the team including hiring, training, delegating work assignments, reviewing performance, and giving feedback.</li>\n <li>Understand the career objectives of your team members and support them on their journey to achieve them</li>\n <li>Work with product management and customers to understand requirements.</li>\n <li>Work with developers to scope and refine planned work then break down stories into more granular tasks for scheduling.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with other technical managers to ensure quality and consistency among software components and products.</li>\n <li>Manage and prioritize development projects and regularly communicate project status with upper management.</li>\n <li>Ensure R&D standards and guidelines are followed per established criteria, including adoption of the appropriate technology and architecture standards.</li>\n <li>Drive a continuous improvement culture and push for innovations and process improvements that accelerate team productivity.</li>\n <li>Remain apprised of state of the art and emerging technologies and seek out opportunities to leverage them in our products and processes.</li>\n <li>Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.</li>\n <li>Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What we’re looking for:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.</li>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience</li>\n <li>12+ years of related programming or testing experience.</li>\n <li>Practical experience with more than one programming language (SAS, C/C++, SQL, Java, Go).</li>\n <li>Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence</li>\n <li>A strong understanding of how Agile SDLC practices enable a successful team</li>\n <li>Experience leading development and delivery at the enterprise system level.</li>\n <li>Experience using SAS products (preferred, not required)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficiency with all aspects of the software development/testing lifecycle.</li>\n <li>A strong work ethic.</li>\n <li>The ability to learn quickly, operate comfortably, and make decisions within a complex environment with incomplete information.</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, organizational, managerial, and problem-solving skills.</li>\n <li>Able to build consensus across cross-functional teams and encourage knowledge-sharing within the team.</li>\n <li>Strong decision-making abilities.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Continuous Integration</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>You are welcome here.</strong></p>\n<p>At SAS, it’s not about fitting into our culture – it’s about adding to it.
