Successful candidates should have teaching experience in CT, possess relevant CT teaching certificates, and experience supervising teacher candidates and/or in-service teachers. The Education Department in the School of Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education seeks qualified candidates with a minimum of a MA in Education and active teaching certificate.&nbsp;</p><p>We currently have openings to teach the student teaching supervisory course.&nbsp;The course will meet once weekly in the evening. The successful candidate will teach the weekly course, observe instruction of student teachers using a remote supervision software, evaluate instruction presented, using the rubric supplied by the department of education, provide feedback to student teachers, and coach improvement.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Develop and/or update a course syllabus</li><li>Prepare lectures, projects, homework, assessments, and other student assignments</li><li>Grade all student assignments in a timely manner.</li><li>Provide appropriate feedback to students to promote academic and student teaching success</li><li>Maintain regularly scheduled office hours; Adjuncts must be available a minimum of one additional hour per week, either in-person or virtually, to provide support to students</li><li>Attend program/department meetings as requested</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of the current methods and practices for teaching college-level courses; present qualified and clear instruction related to the course subject</li><li>Learn and utilize technology offered at USJ to facilitate teaching, including but not limited to use of Blackboard and TEAMS to facilitate learning</li><li>Become and maintain training in the CPAST assessment system; USJ will provide training materials</li><li>Meet all designated class periods in the semester as dictated by the academic calendar</li><li>Submit mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar&#39;s Office within required timeframes, leave all course records with the department chairperson upon completion&nbsp;of the course</li><li>Build a positive rapport with students and faculty and promote an environment of student success at USJ&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><br>&nbsp;Requirements:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Successful candidates should have teaching experience within the field of Education</li><li>Terminal degree in Education preferred</li><li>Degrees must be from an accredited institution</li><li>Current, active CT teaching certificate(s) required</li><li>Current, active CT 092 and/or 093 certificate preferred</li><li>Significant technology competencies required</li><li>Experience teaching in virtual formats required</li><li>Experience with EdTPA preferred</li><li>Commitment to the University of Saint Joseph mission required</li></ul><p><strong><u>Other Qualifications</u></strong>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.&nbsp;</li><li>Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner&nbsp;</li><li>Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision&nbsp;</li><li>Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><br>&nbsp;Additional Information:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Teaching assignments are part-time, on a semester basis only and are dependent on student enrollment and department need.</li><li>Courses are offered in a variety of formats (as decided upon by the Registrar&#39;s Office) including in-person, synchronous online, and asynchronous online.
