Contribute to the development of thermal runaway mitigation hardware, venting paths, ducting concepts, and other mechanically integrated thermal safety features in collaboration with the Thermal Systems team. Support materials and processes activities including  selection  of metals and composites, definition of joining methods, sealing technologies, and evaluation of manufacturing approaches. Apply structural and therm o mechanical analysis methods to support mechanical design development and v alidate  design concepts. Collaborate closely with HV Electrical Systems, Airborne Electronics, Thermal Systems, and Structures teams to ensure consistent interface definition and technically sound integration solutions. Support design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly (DFMA) activities in collaboration with the Battery Production team. Support prototype hardware builds, integration activities, and testing, and help resolve mechanical design issues  identified  during manufacturing and validation. Contribute to engineering documentation including design descriptions, drawings, and inputs to certification-related design documentation. Your profile Bachelor’s or  Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering , Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field. 5 +  years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in aerospace, automotive, battery systems, or other high-performance engineering environments. Strong experience in 3D CAD-based mechanical design, including development of complex parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings. Experience designing structural components, enclosures, or integrated mechanical hardware. Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods and tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, COMSOL, or similar. Familiarity with materials and processes, including metals, composites, joining methods, sealing technologies, and manufacturing considerations. Understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly for complex engineered products. Experience with battery systems or electric propulsion systems is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment. Fluent English language skills are essential; German language skills are beneficial. We recognize that women and other under-represented groups are often overlooked in our industry.
