This position is competent in engineering fundamentals, uses established procedures as well as helping to develop and coordinate new designs, assemblies, and methods to evaluate. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<h3><strong><u>WHAT YOU’LL DO</u></strong></h3>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Design parts and assemblies using Catia based on close guidance by more senior engineers.</li>\n <li>Perform stress/thermal analysis on parts and small assemblies using classical (non –FEA) techniques with intermediate results reviewed by more senior engineer.</li>\n <li>Able to perform, monitor and report results of a limited amount of small-scale tests.</li>\n <li>Travel to manufacturing plants to assist implementation of new designs</li>\n <li>Maintain technical competency.</li>\n <li>Design complex parts and assemblies using Catia based on guidance by more senior engineers </li>\n <li>Perform stress/thermal analysis on parts and small assemblies using classical and numerical FEA methods with results reviewed by more senior engineer at defined milestones.</li>\n <li>Able to perform, monitor and report results of numerous small-scale tests.</li>\n <li>Verify the accuracy of data before and after.</li>\n <li>Travel to manufacturing plants to assist implementation of new designs.</li>\n <li>Work with vendors to obtain required materials.</li>\n <li>Provide engineering support to manufacturing for the installation of aftermarket items requested by customer (i.e. lift gates)</li>\n <li>Assist/advise Design Engineer I with general knowledge.</li>\n <li>Maintain technical competency.</li>\n <li>Work with Production Engineering to coordinate use of new designs.</li>\n <li>Work with Manufacturing Engineering to determine feasibility/tooling requirements for new designs.</li>\n <li>Work with Material vendors (i.e. extruders) to provide information needed to produce new designs.</li>\n <li>Work with Representatives of Other GDLP/CCI companies to provide design support for trailer design.</li>\n <li>Plan own work after definite objectives are set by the manager, referring only unusual cases to the manager.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Write material specifications.</li>\n <li>Use product and market knowledge to propose new methods, materials, and products.</li>\n <li>Maintain technical competency.</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanic Engineering Technology, or equivalent.</li>\n <li>Experience: Minimum 1-year work experience in a related area of engineering and three years of experience in trailer, vocational vehicle or up fit is preferred.</li>\n <li>Skills:  Engineering capabilities expected of graduate engineer plus experience with Catia/SolidWorks.</li>\n <li>Ability to interact with representatives of other departments and companies and use product knowledge to provide accurate input.</li>\n <li>Ability to execute projects with minimal supervision and guidance.</li>\n <li>Setting own work goals after definite objectives are set by manager, referring only unusual cases to manager.</li>\n <li>Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.</li>\n <li>Provide assistance and support.</li>\n <li>Travel: Typically 2-4 days per month.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Office and plant environment.</li>\n <li>Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking.</li>\n <li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>ABOUT GREAT DANE</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>With a history dating back to 1900, Great Dane has established itself as a transportation solutions leader of today – delivering innovative products and exceptional services that help our customers and employees succeed.
