    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p><strong><u>JOB SUMMARY</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Constructs, maintains, and installs electrical equipment, traffic signals, street lights, and school flashers throughout Salt Lake County.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Three (3) years of experience in a field closely related to these duties; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah is required. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Learner’s Permit issued by the State of Utah within thirty (30) days of hire date. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the State of Utah within six (6) months of hire date. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must complete the IMSA Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signal Level I certification within twelve (12) months of hire. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must complete all internal equipment certifications within six (6) months of hire. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must complete Level I IMSA street light certification within twelve (12) months of hire. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position. Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.</p>\n<p><strong><u> </u></strong></p>\n<p><strong><u> </u></strong></p>\n<p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of specific duties and responsibilities will not preclude it from the position.</em></p>\n<p><em> </em></p>\n<p><em>Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Constructs, installs, and maintains traffic signal controllers, cabinets, pole base and foundations, mast arms, vehicle detection loops, underground/overhead wiring, and conduit.</li>\n <li>Constructs, installs, and maintains street lights, school flashers, and radar signs.</li>\n <li>Monitors traffic coordination systems and ATMS systems.</li>\n <li>Coordinates with contractors and power company representatives to determine electrical problems or power failures. Facilitates resolution of repairs.</li>\n <li>Operates specialized equipment such as boom trucks, line trucks, trenchers, and concrete saws.</li>\n <li>Works with low and high voltage, electrical meters, and testing equipment.</li>\n <li>Assists County divisions with electrical equipment and electric motors as requested.</li>\n <li>Investigates citizen concerns and resolves issues in a professional, courteous manner, while maintaining a safe environment and providing excellent customer service.</li>\n <li>Follows applicable safety practices, requirements, and policies to prevent accidents and/or injuries.</li>\n <li>Participates in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to emergencies.</li>\n <li>Prepares and submits detailed daily reports of work completed, utility locates, and preventative maintenance logs.</li>\n <li>Performs traffic control and other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge of:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>National and State electrical codes</li>\n <li>MUTCD standards and certifications</li>\n <li>Operation and programming of electronic and computerized controllers, cabinets, and associated electronic power supplies, BIUs, detection amps, switch packs, etc.</li>\n <li>TS2 signal controllers, switches, flashers, traffic signal wiring, 220-440 V three phase motors and pumps, street light systems, and commercial building wiring 120-220 V services</li>\n <li>5,000 V constant flower series circuits</li>\n <li>Power line high voltage (7,200 to 40,000 V)</li>\n <li>Aerial bucket trucks and pole gear</li>\n <li>PCBs, electrical coolants, signal embedding resins and catalysts, PVC, laminates, and electrical convents for contact and point cleaners</li>\n <li>Salt Lake County street system and facilities</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Skills and Abilities to: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Efficiently operate and maintain equipment</li>\n <li>Work with high voltages</li>\n <li>Problem-solve and repair controllers</li>\n <li>Read and understand blueprints and schematics</li>\n <li>Pour and finish concrete</li>\n <li>Interact and communicate effectively with individuals in other trades and within crew both orally and in writing</li>\n <li>Climb 40 to 90 foot power and/or light poles to make repairs</li>\n <li>Safely work in heavy and normal traffic flow</li>\n <li>Construct and install electrical systems for traffic control and street lighting</li>\n <li>Perform manual labor</li>\n <li>Prioritize tasks</li>\n <li>Provide accurate cost estimates for assigned tasks and daily work sheets</li>\n <li>Act and work independently and make decisions</li>\n <li>Identify potential maintenance and safety issues</li>\n <li>Design and set up traffic control</li>\n <li>Locate utilities (Bluestaking)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position requires extensive physical labor such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds with some assistance); kneeling, bending, sitting, and standing. The work involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, smoke, and/or loud noises.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position requires working in close proximity to traffic, the general public, and outside environment, requiring observing strict safety standards.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Climbing up to 90 foot power and/or light poles. Working from bucket trucks.</p>",
