Job Title: Principal R&D Engineer, Mechanical Assemblies & Accessories
Location : This position is based in our Campbell, California offices. This position is onsite and full time.

What You’ll Do
As an expert professional in this field, the Principal R&D Engineer serves as the subject matter expert in the design, continuous improvement, and manufacturability of commercialized neurovascular, endovascular or vascular products/product line(s) and /or technical innovation of same. This position used deep expertise in this field and provides insights and leadership as an individual technical contributor to promote new ideas and innovation when establishing processes and methods/techniques that drive best practices and engineering principles to a broader technical team in one of the specific engineering focuses mentioned below. This role includes the responsibility of mentoring and developing other R&D engineers as an industry leader with formal reporting line to an engineering team when needed. Lead assigned technical projects to drive value improvement, line extensions, and commercial compliance with quality systems and global regulatory requirements Build neurovascular-endovascular catheter/controller prototypes using a variety of equipment Through research, technical discussions, and interaction with SAB and R&D team members, conceptualize and/or prototype new product designs, add-ons, or enhancements Evaluate performance characteristics of new product designs and identify opportunities for new development or improvements based on customer feedback, technologies, and clinical needs Lead risk analysis activities and develop product testing plans and protocols; set up and run or lead product testing and protocols in accordance with project plans Create new test methods and perform Design Verification testing, preparing detailed reports and contribute to Design Validation activities (in-vivo and anatomical models) and usability studies (anatomical models, benchtop evaluation of prototypes)
What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 12 years of related experience in the medical device or related regulated industry; or equivalent combination of education and work experience Experience in mechanical design, injection molded parts, catheter design, or similar electromechanical consumable devices preferred Statistical analysis Software (Minitab or similar) and CAD (Solidworks, ProE, similar). Demonstrated knowledge of and exposure to product testing and data collection Ability to be self-directed with minimal direction and supervision and take initiative to discern from multiple priorities when guiding a technical project team toward efficient solutions and opportunities; ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment Must be able to travel up to 10% domestically
