Description
Overview
Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Litigation Docketing Coordinator to support the Litigation Docketing Department as a senior operational member. The Litigation Docketing Coordinator serves as a high‑level resource within the department, overseeing complex docketing matters, coordinating cross‑team efforts, and supporting the Litigation Docketing Manager in driving department objectives, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will independently manage complex litigation docketing across federal, state, local, and administrative matters, ensuring deadlines are accurately analyzed and calendared using CompuLaw Vision or Milana in accordance with firm protocols. You will serve as a subject matter expert on nuanced or atypical docketing scenarios, conduct jurisdictional research on procedural rules and court practices, and provide clear, reliable deadline guidance and rule summaries to attorneys and legal staff. You will support oversight of daily docketing operations, partnering with the Litigation Docketing Manager to monitor workflow, balance team capacity, and ensure high-quality work product. This includes reviewing and auditing docketing entries for accuracy, identifying recurring issues and recommending process improvements, collaborating on training or workflow enhancements, and contributing to quality control and risk‑mitigation efforts. You will work closely with litigation teams to ensure seamless calendaring workflows and communicate confidently on complex or sensitive deadline matters. As a senior team member, you will provide mentorship and guidance to Specialists and Senior Specialists, assist with onboarding and training, and contribute to ongoing professional development efforts. You will also support operational excellence initiatives, help maintain departmental procedures and training materials, serve as an escalation point for complex issues, and act as a deputy to the Litigation Docketing Manager as needed to ensure continuity and service excellence.
We Know You
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience required, along with 8–10 years of progressive docketing experience in a law firm or legal environment. Expert knowledge of federal and state court rules, litigation lifecycles, and judicial procedures is essential, as is extensive experience with rules-based calendaring systems such as CompuLaw Vision and Milana. Candidates must demonstrate strong workflow oversight and quality control experience, including mentoring or training others. Exceptional analytical ability, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex procedural information clearly and diplomatically are critical. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and adaptable to changing deadlines and procedures. A collaborative, service-oriented approach, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and flexibility to work overtime as needed are required.
