(Note: Employees are instructed to seek assistance when lifting heavy objects), and</p><p>being able to walk safely on surfaces that can be wet or snow covered on occasions. Additionally, employees are</p><p>frequently required to climb ladders and steps a distance of up to 25 feet and walk long distances throughout the</p><p>work shift. Walkways are often narrow (approximately 2 feet in width) requiring good balance and coordination.</p><p>Working areas are tight, enclosed, and do not allow a great deal of space from time to time. All positions require</p><p>effective eye-hand coordination to perform detailed work. All employees must be able to wear personal protective</p><p>equipment including a life vest, safety shoes, clothing, dust mask and hearing protection.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Working conditions are frequently dusty with heat and cold extremes according to season. Work surfaces may be</p><p>slippery and hazardous from time to time. Persons must be able to hear safety signals (such as horns, whistles, and</p><p>the human voice), and be able to read and understand safety manuals and other written material such as labels,</p><p>warnings, gauges and machinery instrumentation.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The position requires effective written communication in order to complete required daily reports. Effective verbal</p><p>communication is also necessary in order to allow the individual to give/receive instructions over a radio, loud</p><p>speaker or person to person. Knowledge of hand signals will also be required. Position requires the ability to</p><p>remember and follow established procedures for maintaining and operating various diesel and gas engines,</p><p>generators, compressors and winches used in the operation.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In addition to the above, Welder/Fitter positions involve frequent heavy physical labor including:</p><ul><li>Operation of arc welders and cutting torches involving repeated bending, squatting, and use of hands</li><li>and vision to perform detailed cutting and welding. Employees must be able to wear personal</li><li>protective devices such as vision, clothing, and head protection;</li><li>Lifting and carrying steel pieces and fittings weighing 50 to 60 pounds;</li><li>Sledge hammering and use of other hand held tools.</li></ul><p>In addition to the general requirements above, Barge Cleaning positions involve frequent heavy physical labor</p><p>including:</p><ul><li>Lifting, carrying, and placing of pumps weighing up to 125 lbs. (Note: Employees are instructed to</li><li>seek assistance when lifting heavy objects);</li><li>Moving and carrying hoses weighing up to 70 lbs. by pulling, tugging, and dragging them long</li><li>distances; and</li><li>Lifting buckets of material hand over hand from a standing position.
