Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Philanthropic Advisor will manage a portfolio of approximately 100–125 major gift prospects and play a key role in advancing the College’s most ambitious priorities. </p>\n<p>This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a relationship-driven environment, enjoys travel and autonomy, and wants to be part of a collaborative advancement team during a pivotal campaign phase. You’ll partner closely with faculty, leadership, and advancement colleagues to shape strategy, deepen donor engagement, and drive meaningful philanthropic investment. </p>\n<p><strong>Your Contribution Will Likely Include:</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Managing and executing strategies for a portfolio of 100–125 major gift prospects capable of giving $100,000+  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Building and advancing relationships through in-person visits, written communication, and digital outreach  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Developing and implementing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to maximize donor engagement  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Meeting and exceeding annual fundraising goals and performance metrics  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Partnering with faculty and academic leaders to align donor interests with institutional priorities  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Serving as a trusted advisor and liaison across the HMC community, including alumni, parents, and volunteers  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborating across Advancement, including Alumni and Parent Relations, to enhance giving opportunities  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Staying current on philanthropy trends and applying best practices to strengthen outcomes  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensuring compliance with fundraising policies and donor management protocols  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Representing HMC at events and engaging donors through travel, including evenings and weekends as needed  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Experience You Will Bring:</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree required  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>At least five years of experience in major gifts fundraising within a medium-to-large development operation  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Proven track record of successfully soliciting and closing six- and seven-figure gifts  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience working in higher education and/or a capital campaign environment strongly preferred  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong understanding of fundraising best practices and donor lifecycle management  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to independently manage a portfolio while contributing to a collaborative team environment  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism when handling confidential information  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Comfort working in a complex institutional environment with diverse stakeholders  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Willingness and ability to travel up to two weeks per month and work occasional evenings/weekends  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience or familiarity with entrepreneurial or innovation ecosystems (e.g., startups, VC) is a plus  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What's in it for you:</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Salary range: $135,000 – $150,000 annually</strong>  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Opportunity to “own” a region and portfolio with significant autonomy  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience contributing to a major capital campaign at a top-tier institution  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborative, mission-driven environment within a highly respected college  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Access to the resources and community of The Claremont Colleges consortium  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Equal Opportunity Employer:</strong> Harvey Mudd College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
