Employees work collaboratively with Department staff. &nbsp;Responsible for developing program activities and ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures. This position supervises the activities, safety and security of registered participants. Work is performed under general supervision. &nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><strong><u>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (examples, not all-inclusive)</u></strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">&nbsp;<em>The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position</em><em>.</em><em>&nbsp;</em></span></p><ul><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Responsible for program operation of assigned program.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Leads recreational and age-appropriate activities with youth, including assistance with schoolwork.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Manages minor disciplinary issues.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Assists with the supervision of assigned student volunteers.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Greets patrons and responds to general inquiries applicable to assigned programs and the Parks and Recreation Department.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Moves frequently with program participants and ensures their safety, care and supervision.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Instructs or assists with implementing activities and supervising children.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Administers basic first aid in the event of injury.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Performs light upkeep of facility from program use.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Responds to routine questions, complaints or requests for service.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Communicates with supervisor relative to program needs.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Reports safety concerns and hazards to the supervisor.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Ensures and enforces program policies, regulations, and safety rules of the Parks and Recreation Department.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Works a varied schedule.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Maintains accurate records of program participants.</li><li style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Performs other duties as directed.</li></ul><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><strong><u>QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><strong>Education and Experience:</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong>High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in working with children preferred; an equivalent combination of education, certification, training or experience may be considered. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for one year of the required experience or education.
