    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at EVMS is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to join our academic faculty. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary setting while also contributing to the teaching and research missions of a leading academic medical center.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative care in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, including:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Management of complicated pregnancies</li>\n  <li>Prenatal diagnosis and fetal ultrasound</li>\n  <li>Genetic counseling and testing coordination</li>\n  <li>Procedures such as amniocentesis, CVS, and cerclage</li>\n </ul>\n <li>Participate in labor and delivery coverage and multidisciplinary case management</li>\n <li>Supervise and educate medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers</li>\n <li>Participate in clinical or basic science research, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly activities</li>\n <li>Collaborate with other subspecialties and departments to provide comprehensive patient care</li>\n <li>Engage in departmental and institutional service roles as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Outpatient Clinical Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Consultative Complex OB Care: </strong>Provide ongoing antenatal management and consultations for patients with maternal or fetal complications, including but not limited to:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy</li>\n   <li>Diabetes mellitus and endocrine disorders</li>\n   <li>Cardiac disease in pregnancy</li>\n   <li>Multifetal gestation</li>\n   <li>History of adverse pregnancy outcomes</li>\n   <li>Preterm labor/preterm birth risk</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><strong>Prenatal Diagnosis & Genetic Counseling</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Interpret and counsel patients on genetic screening and diagnostic testing options</li>\n   <li>Collaborate with genetic counselors for integrated patient care</li>\n   <li>Offer and perform procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS)</li>\n   <li>Manage counseling for abnormal ultrasound or laboratory findings</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><strong>Obstetric Ultrasound and Imaging</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Perform and interpret ultrasounds, fetal echocardiography, and targeted imaging studies</li>\n   <li>Participate in quality assurance and protocol development for ultrasound services</li>\n   <li>Supervise sonographers and imaging fellows (if applicable)</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li> </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Inpatient Clinical Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Labor & Delivery Triage and Management</strong></li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Supervise and manage complex obstetric patients in labor and delivery, including those with medical/surgical complications</li>\n  <li>Direct or supervise emergency OB interventions, maternal resuscitation, and high-acuity deliveries</li>\n </ul>\n <li><strong>Antepartum Service</strong></li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Provide inpatient consults and primary management for hospitalized pregnant patients with complex conditions</li>\n  <li>Manage periviable pregnancies, preeclampsia, PPROM, and fetal growth restriction</li>\n </ul>\n <li><strong>Obstetrical Procedures</strong></li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Perform and supervise procedures such as:</li>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Cerclage placement</li>\n   <li>Amnioreduction or amnioinfusion</li>\n   <li>External cephalic version</li>\n   <li>Invasive diagnostic or therapeutic fetal procedures, such as shunts</li>\n  </ul>\n </ul>\n <li><strong>Teaching & Supervision</strong></li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Serve as attending physician on clinical rotations involving medical students, OB/GYN residents, MFM fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers</li>\n  <li>Provide real-time teaching during rounds, ultrasound sessions, and labor/delivery care</li>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Call Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in shared night and weekend call schedule with MFM colleagues</li>\n <li>Provide backup consultative support to general OB/GYN providers during off-hours</li>\n <li>Supervise inpatient antepartum and delivery unit coverage, including resident/fellow interactions</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Requirements: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.</li>\n <li>Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program.</li>\n <li>Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.</li>\n <li>Active state medical license (or eligibility for licensure).</li>\n <li>Current BLS and ACLS; NRP and other certifications as required by the institution.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Experience or Attributes:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li>\n <li>Commitment to patient-centered, culturally sensitive care.</li>\n <li>Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.</li>\n <li>Proficiency with electronic medical records.</li>\n <li>Experience working in an academic health system</li>\n <li>Interest in advancing health equity and working with diverse populations</li>\n <li>Ability to build and maintain effective interdisciplinary relationships</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Location : Location</h2>US-VA-Norfolk",
