    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Claims Specalist is responsible for the prompt and efficient examination, investigation and settlement or declination of insurance claims through effective research, negotiation and interaction with insureds and claimants, ensuring that company resources are utilized in a cost effective manner in the process for General liability claims within BI.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains appropriate financial accountabilities (reserving) and controls loss adjustment expenses</li>\n <li>Responsible for handling moderate-to-high complexity commercial general liability losses, including litigated claims.</li>\n <li>Makes timely and appropriate contacts with interested parties, including, but not limited to the insured, claimant/attorney, witnesses and producers. </li>\n <li>Determines, reviews and analyzes coverages that may or may not apply to the claim; Plans, executes and reviews investigations-coverage, liability and/or damages – including the securing of a signed or recorded statement of the insured, claimant and/or witnesses. </li>\n <li>Discusses possible coverage issues with supervisor and drafts coverage positions as applicable. Obtains medical records and reports; police ambulance and agency reports; photographs and measurements; and, expert assistance/testimony.</li>\n <li>Applies facts, as determined by contacts and investigation, to the law of a particular jurisdiction to properly evaluate exposure. </li>\n <li>Establishes indemnity and expense reserves as the claim transpires. </li>\n <li>Controls and manages claims-related expenses; determines and executes plans of action to resolution, including the avoidance/minimization of litigation.</li>\n <li> Works with and actively monitors and manages defense counsel. </li>\n <li>Minimizes losses through identification of subrogation and prompt disposition.</li>\n <li>Identifies issues (coverage, liability, damages, handling), seeks appropriate guidance, and communicates pursuant to authority structure. </li>\n <li>Determines and fulfills reporting requirements to supervisor/manager, Home Office, SIU, client companies and reinsurers.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>7-8+ years of claims handling experience, preferably within the commercial general liability space</li>\n <li>Experience adjusting litigated files</li>\n <li>State licensure as required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>The expected salary range for this role is $90,000-$115,000/year.</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.
