    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p style=\"margin-left: -0.5pt;\"><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) works with the Director of Ground Transportation and EMT-P as part of the inter-facility transportation service for the Health Care District.&nbsp; Duties include driving the ambulance to transport patients between facilities, offering basic medical support, and working as part of the transport team running BLS calls.&nbsp;</span></p><p style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><br><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong><u>Essential Functions:</u></strong></span></span></p><ul><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Has a basic understanding of stress response and methods to ensure personal well-being.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Has an understanding of body substance isolation.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Provide medical care to include but not limited to the National Scope of Practice Model:</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Opening and maintaining an airway, Ventilating patients, manage general medical complaints of altered mental status, respiratory, cardiac, diabetic, allergic reaction, seizures, and psychological crises.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Assisting patients with prescribed medications, including sublingual nitroglycerin, epinephrine auto-injectors and hand-held aerosol inhalers.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Administration of oxygen and oral glucose.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including use of automated external defibrillators.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Avoid mishandling and undue haste while working to accomplish the task.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Reassuring patients by working in a confident, efficient manner.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Lifting the stretcher (be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.)</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Placing the stretcher in the ambulance and ensuring the patient and stretcher are secured.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Assist in lifting and carrying the patient out of the ambulance and into the receiving facility.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Reports verbally and in writing any observations or medical care in transit to the receiving facility for purposes of records and diagnostics.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Upon request provides assistance to the receiving facility</span></li></ul><p style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">After each transport</span></p><ul><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Restocks and replaces used linens, blankets and other supplies</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting and infection control procedures</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Makes careful check of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next transport</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Maintains ambulance in efficient operating condition</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Ensures that the ambulance is clean and washed and kept in a neat, orderly condition</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">In accordance with local, state or federal regulations, decontaminates the interior of the vehicle after transport of patient with contagious infection or hazardous materials exposure</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Determines that the ambulance is in proper mechanical condition by checking items required by service management.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Lead provider on BLS transports. Lead provider on discharges back to residence or skilled nursing facility.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">During downtime, assist in the Emergency Department at Lakeside Medical Center or other HCDPBC’s business units within your scope of practice.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Completes daily Ambulance checklist.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Maintain all licensure requirements.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Attends continuing education and refresher training programs as required.</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Enter all required incidents and compliments into the Districts Incident Management System.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Receive and understand direction, ask questions when appropriate, and manage time to work effectively and independently.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Act in a manner that protects the integrity of the mission of the Health Care District.</span></li></ul><p><span class=\"text-small\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes assisting community or hospital based organizations or the Red Cross.
