What you will get to do: As a member of the Automation team, the Automation Mechanical Designer will be responsible for Leading, Supporting, Implementing, and Managing Automation projections while driving innovation in advancements. Be part of a team of experts to drive solutions that improve efficiencies, safety and quality. Work with various assembly plants and integrators. Work closely with Automation team, ASI Project Managers, & manufacturing teams, to develop systems and complete projects. Provide machine, mechanism, and tooling design along with drawing creation while under minimal technical supervision. Prepare drawing packages for manufacture and assembly, ensuring they are complete and accurate, meeting all customer drawing requirements as well as proper drafting standards. Collaborate with shop members prior to and during the build. Deliberate with Automation Controls engineers to design for integration and select pneumatic components. Use SolidWorks & DaftSight to develop equipment, machine, mechanism, or EAOT designs that meet customer specifications and the company quote. Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime. Support legacy cell designs Share design methodologies, productivity tools, standards, processes, and legacy information for increased knowledge and experience within the company. Mentor less experienced design staff and assists in the development of concepts and design methodologies for projects. Work with integrators on outsourced cells to ensure they meet the company standards. What will make you successful: Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must possess the skill to project lead other Integrators as a subject matter expert. Ability to develop Automation cell concepts, design EOATs, components, different mechanisms and assist with developing documentation standards. Experience in drawing creation for assemblies, weldments and details to include all dimensions, tolerances, and documentation to allow the manufacture and assembly of designs that meet specified requirements 3+ years of experience in a machine design role at an automation/machine build shop. Ability to travel up to 20% to customer sites to capture design info or assist installation.
