    "description": "<h2>Description</h2>\n\n<p>82nd Street Academics is looking for part-time teacher assistants for our after-school program for the 2025 - 2026 school year. These positions will be at different school campuses, including Renaissance Charter School, PS280, and Hunters Point Community Middle School in Queens. Teacher Assistants work with students across elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. The goal of our after-school program is to provide academic and social support to help students develop skills and be successful now and in the future. We achieve these goals by providing a holistic program that includes homework assistance, Physical Fitness, STEM activities, Leadership Development Activities, Science Madness, Arts &amp; Crafts, Dance, and Career Exploration.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>The estimated hours of this part-time position are Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There are weekly meetings and professional developments that may occur outside of these hours. The pay rate is&nbsp;$18 per hour.</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><strong>Major Duties and Responsibilities include:</strong></p>\n\n<p>- Support student participation in high-quality after-school programming with the guidance of the Lead Teachers and After-School Site Director.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>- Serve as role models for students.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>- Monitor attendance and use engagement strategies to increase daily attendance.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>- Adhere to policies on attendance and punctuality, dress code, and setting a tone of respect in interactions with students, colleagues, families, and staff.</p>\n\n<p>- Communicate with families about any concerns and provide excellent partnership management in the school community.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><strong>Education and Experience:</strong></p>\n\n<p>&bull;&nbsp; Bachelor&#39;s Degree (preferred)</p>\n\n<p>&bull;&nbsp; Plan towards college graduation (required)</p>\n\n<p>&bull;&nbsp; At least one year of experience working with the students in a professional setting</p>\n\n<p>&bull; Commitment to the program through the end of June is a non-negotiable requirement</p>\n\n<p>&bull; Bilingual fluency in Spanish (preferred)</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><strong>Demonstrated Abilities:</strong></p>\n\n<p>&bull; Readiness to learn and grow as a professional.</p>\n\n<p>&bull; Knowledge of best practices in working with students in a school setting and/or an extracurricular setting.</p>\n\n<p>&bull; Strong communication abilities and organization skills.</p>\n\n<p>&bull; Creativity for problem-solving and supporting students in different situations.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>&bull; Skills with taking initiative to implement positive change in the face of challenges.</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>Interested and qualified candidates should respond to this posting with their cover letters and resume.
