Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>What you will do</strong></p>\n<p>Reporting to the Transportation Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;</li>\n <li>maintaining public relations with the community;</li>\n <li>overseeing operation and maintenance of equipment;</li>\n <li>providing effective winter maintenance of highways in accordance with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s policies and guidelines.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Work environment:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Office location:&nbsp;Tide Head</li>\n <li>Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours</li>\n <li>May work in adverse road and weather conditions</li>\n <li>We promote a scent-reduced environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Who you are</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Key behavioural competencies:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Concern for Order</li>\n <li>Developing Others</li>\n <li>Effective Interactive Communication</li>\n <li>Flexibility</li>\n <li>Results Orientation</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Essential Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Highway Supervisor II:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Diploma from a recognized two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology program in a related field.</li>\n <li>Three (3) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</li>\n <li><strong>OR</strong> high school graduation or GED and six (6) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.</li>\n <li>Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Highway Supervisor I:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Diploma from a recognized two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology program in a related field</li>\n <li>One (1) year of related work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</li>\n <li><strong>OR</strong> high school graduation or GED and four (4) years of winter maintenance work or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
