Damar is currently seeking a Specialized Initiatives Technician to join our highly skilled team for full-time opportunities at our main residential setting on the Southwest side of Indianapolis where we provide services. The Specialized Initiatives Technician - IGH is responsible for performing a variety of para-professional tasks related to the care of individuals served in various Specialized Initiatives and Programs within Damar. Never leaving clients unattended unless permitted for periods of time based on a client’s Individualized Crisis Management Plan</li>\n <li>Must be flexible and willing to support clients in various unique settings in line with the program’s vision</li>\n <li>Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations, which may include client physical aggression, utilizing prescribed verbal intervention or physical management techniques</li>\n <li>Assists in maintaining a safe and healthy environment, including performing a variety of tasks related to housekeeping including cleaning, washing soiled clothing, changing bed linen, folding, and sorting clean laundry</li>\n <li>Ensure youth in this program have access to recreational and life enrichment activities</li>\n <li>Operates Damar vehicles and/or personal vehicles to transport residents or perform other work-related duties</li>\n <li>Follows physician’s orders to properly administer medication to clients</li>\n <li>Support the client to acquire basic academic, behavioral, communication, social-functioning, self-help, daily living, and social skills</li>\n <li>Consistently implements behavior management plans to reduce client’s maladaptive behaviors, promote appropriate social behaviors and maximize human potential of each client served</li>\n <li>Promotes and assists with the development of appropriate daily living, self-help and social skills</li>\n <li>Understands client’s rights and protects them by promptly reporting any violations</li>\n</ul>\n<h2></h2>\n<p><strong>What you need to be considered...</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be at least 21 to work in our Children's Residential program <em>however, we have other Direct Support Professional roles for those between 18-21 so we still encourage you to apply if you are not 21 or over</em></li>\n <li>Be able to provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED</li>\n <li>Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)</li>\n <li>Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions</li>\n <li>Successfully complete a pre-employment physical</li>\n <li>Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>#DSCrises</p>\n<p>#DSCARE</p>",
