&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>DEPARTMENT: &nbsp;Quality/Planer Mill</p><p>SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS</p><ul><li>Work in the planer/sawmill, continuously monitoring the machine centers and processes for accurate production of lumber. &nbsp;The goal of the Quality Control Assistant is to maintain and increase the recovery of lumber from each log. &nbsp;</li></ul><p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p><ul><li>Consistently measure and record thickness &amp; width measurements at each machine center, according to the procedures developed</li><li>Perform daily manufacturing quality checks according to the procedures developed to determine if machine centers are operating at optimum level</li><li>Document findings, maintain records and communicate to mill personnel when lumber is off spec</li><li>Assist mill personnel in bringing lumber back into specification</li><li>Provide training to mill personnel on identifying quality issues and communicating those issues back to QC Supervisor</li><li>Generate reports that show performance trends on quality indicators</li><li>Complete production tallies, downtime tallies and daily reports as required</li><li>Assist supervisor in developing quality processes in other areas as needed</li><li>All other duties assigned by supervisor</li></ul><p>ADDITIONAL DUTIES</p><ul><li>Attend/conduct meetings as required regarding quality issues</li><li>Assist other operators as necessary</li></ul><p>ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS</p><ul><li>Report directly to Supervisor</li></ul><p>QUALIFICATIONS</p><ul><li>Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors</li><li>Ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time</li><li>Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs</li><li>Understanding of correct lumber manufacturing processes</li><li>Understanding of the relationship between volume, value and recovery</li><li>Working knowledge of planer/sawmill machinery</li><li>General knowledge of optimization</li><li>Comfortable with basic computer skills</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively to other operators/supervisors</li><li>Attention to detail</li><li>Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly</li><li>Ability to complete production tallies, downtime tallies and daily reports as required</li><li>Understand basic mathematical skills</li><li>Work well both independently and as part of a team</li></ul><p>SAFETY</p><ul><li>Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations</li><li>Wear all required personal protective equipment: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc&hellip;as required</li><li>Do not enter restricted areas</li><li>Report immediately to supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly</li><li>Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge</li><li>Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating</li><li>Whenever possible, eliminate unsafe conditions as soon as possible</li><li>Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers</li><li>Use proper lifting technique by pushing, pulling and lifting with your legs and not your back</li><li>Never approach a saw while it is still running</li><li>Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
