Hours:  37.5 Hours per Week Status:  Permanent Full Time Closing Date:  July 9, 2026 Job Summary The Manager, Surgical Quality Improvement and Patient Safety is a critical leadership position within the Sprott Department of Surgery, responsible for advancing a comprehensive surgical quality improvement strategy across all surgical divisions and departments at UHN. This role also provides support in overseeing patient safety and associated committees for the Sprott Program in partnership with the Clinical Director and Program Medical Director.  Sprott Program includes: the Operating Room (OR), perioperative services, procedural areas, and four inpatient units, ensuring a coordinated and system-wide approach to quality and safety. Reporting as a key leader in quality and safety excellence, the Manager leads a specialized team of Surgical Clinical Reviewers (3) and a Quality Improvement/Data Coordinator (1) who are responsible for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of meaningful clinical data. This work informs evidence-based quality improvement initiatives, supports participation in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), and drives measurable improvements in patient outcomes, clinical performance, and surgical care delivery. The role is instrumental in leading the Sprott Centre for Quality and Safety Collaborative, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strengthening partnerships across clinical, operational, and administrative teams across the Sprott Department of Surgery. The Manager provides executional and implementation leadership for high-profile, high-impact quality and patient safety projects, translating data into action and effectively driving large-scale organizational change. Through collaboration with physicians, clinical leaders, and point of care teams, the Manager identifies opportunities to improve quality of care and patient outcomes. In addition, the Manager supports the strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of annual quality and patient safety priorities, provides administrative leadership and oversight to the Sprott Program Quality of Care Committee, and ensures robust governance, accountability, and reporting structures are in place. By proactively identifying risks, monitoring performance indicators, and championing best practices, this role plays a pivotal part in advancing a culture of safety and achieving the highest standards reliability, reduced harm and enhanced patient experience.
