Assist patients in developing, recovering, improving, and maintaining the skills needed for daily living and work.</p><p><br></p><p><u><strong>Qualifications</strong></u></p><ul><li>Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program</li><li>Experience: 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience&nbsp;</li><li>Licenses/Certifications: Current Occupational Therapy Assistant state license; CPR certification.</li><li>Excellent verbal &amp; written communication</li><li>Time management</li><li>Critical thinking</li><li>Sound judgment &amp; decision making&nbsp;</li><li>Active listening</li><li>Service orientation</li><li>Social perceptiveness</li><li>Compassionate instruction&nbsp;</li></ul><p><u><strong>Essential Job Duties&nbsp;</strong></u></p><ul><li>Provides services under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.&nbsp;</li><li>Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with an occupational therapist by teaching techniques, such as the proper method of transferring from a bed into a wheelchair and the best way to stretch and limber muscles.&nbsp;</li><li>Evaluates the living skills and capabilities of physically, developmentally, and emotionally disabled patients.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists in the selection of activities and the development of treatment plans to help patients to function independently.&nbsp;</li><li>Observe, monitor, and record patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior, provide superiors feedback, and recommend changes to their treatment plans.&nbsp;</li><li>Instructs patients and their families on in-home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs routine tasks, such as helping patients achieve stretches and teaching patients to use specific equipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Uses various tools and equipment, such as special lifts or pulleys, to move patients.&nbsp;</li><li>Documents patient care services according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures.&nbsp;</li><li>Leads by example and exhibits professionalism at all times.&nbsp;</li><li>Holds themselves accountable and encourage collaboration and flexibility within the department and interdepartmental teamwork for positive outcomes.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Join a Team That Makes You Proud – At Sunnyside, We SHINE Together!</strong></p><p><strong>Culture and Work Environment:</strong> Join a team you’ll be proud of at Sunnyside Retirement Community, where every team member is encouraged to S.H.I.N.E.: Service Before Self, Hospitality with Heart, Inspiring Excellence, Nothing Less Than the Best, and Enjoy Your Journey.
