Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Locate and monitor overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.
• Record information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.
• Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail or telephone.
• Confer with customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of sales, service, or credit contracts.
• Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
• Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be Bi-lingual in Spanish
• Must be extremely organized and have extraordinary time management skills.
• Must be able to build strong working relationships with call center managers, supervisors, quality control, peers, and others across the company.
• Strong, effective interpersonal skills are mandatory –must be able to initiate dialogues, persuade, and negotiate with debtors.
• Ability to perform skip tracing activities. This is the process of looking for a debtor whose whereabouts are unknown. You can call personal references, neighbors, other creditors or search public records to obtain debtor information.
• Demonstrate negotiation skills
• Adhere to Federal Guidelines. As a debt collector, you should have knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This is an act or law that governs the activity of debt collectors.
• Demonstrate communication and listening skills. Collectors should be good communicators. Demonstrating effective listening skills are necessary to resolve the debt
• Working knowledge of computers and the internet
• Must be extremely organized and have extraordinary time management skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tool, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• The work environment is an office call center environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
