    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Hiring Rate (Basic $57,750) (Advanced $60,638)</strong></p><p>Purpose of Classification:</p><p>The purpose of this classification is to respond to and assist on emergency and non-emergency medical calls, disasters, multi-casualty situations, fires and /or all other types of emergencies; and treat illnesses and injuries of adult and pediatric patients, often under stressful and hazardous conditions, while operating under a complex system of standing orders.</p><p>Essential Functions:&nbsp;</p><p><i>The following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.</i></p><p>Operates emergency vehicle to and from the scene to facilitate the transport of sick and injured patients to the appropriate facility, in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.</p><p>Evaluates the incident scene upon arrival and identifies dangerous conditions and hazards in order to ensure the safety of the crew and patient(s).</p><p>Assists with patient assessment and examination; triages patients; accordingly, initiates the appropriate medical care; and evaluates the need for additional resources.</p><p>Administers approved drugs per patient care protocol within EMT’s scope of practice.</p><p>Assesses treatment effects; relays and communicates patient’s condition and complete medical information to emergency medical dispatch, hospitals and physicians via radio and telephone; and provides emergency and non-emergency transport of sick or injured persons as necessary.</p><p>Assists fire rescue personnel with various types of rescue operations.</p><p>Completes and prepares a variety of forms, logs, records, reports and other documentation associated with responsibilites of the position; and maintains administrative records and files.</p><p>Maintains ambulance inventory through regular checks to ensure adequate supplies aboard vehicle, including supplies in drug and IV boxes; ensures security of drug box, inventory, and records; and transports bio-hazardous waste to the emergency rooms for disposal.</p><p>Performs daily checks and scheduled inspections to ensure proper functioning of communications equipment, medical equipment, and vehicles.</p><p>Maintains current certifications as required by attending re-certification and and required trainings.</p><p>Minimum Qualifications:</p><p>High school diploma or GED requried and one year experience as an EMT preferred.</p><p><strong><u>Specific License or Certification Required:</u></strong>&nbsp; Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain current State of Georgia certification as an EMT B or A, and current BLS/CPR and Infection Control certificates.&nbsp; May be required to obtain and maintain additional certifications as deemed necessary by&nbsp;Fire Rescue career path.</p>",
