Apply now and energize your career with a true leader in the global energy transformation.</p><p></p><p>We´re looking for a Senior Electrical Test Engineer to join our team in Dayton:</p><p></p><p><span>Under direct or general supervision, responsible for general and specific assignments involving complex and extensive types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, equipment and operating problems. Employing extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and devising new approaches to problems encountered, plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of major projects such as equipment design and development, materials tests, preparation of specifications, applications studies, analyses of system or process troubles, research investigations, system planning studies and preparation of technical reports. Responsible for overseeing and managing complex projects.  Duties require a complete knowledge of accepted practices in the areas of all substation equipment, protective relaying systems, reclosers, regulators, capacitors and broad knowledge of principles and practices in related specialties in order to resolve a variety of highly complex problems, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials and difficult coordination requirements. Duties also require project management skills, employee development and training.  Has supervisory guidance in terms of specific objectives and critical issues and has authority to make independent decisions on engineering practices and methods. </span></p><p></p><p><b><span>Main Responsibilities:</span></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Technician training and development:</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Assess employee skill level across all job functions and identify development areas.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Set up training for all equipment and testing for such things as substation entry, transformers, breakers, reclosers, CCVT’s, RTU’s, capacitors, regulators, MOABS, batteries, and all protective relaying systems.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Set up training for test equipment/processes for such things as relay testing/commissioning, power factor testing, recloser testing, contact resistance testing, phasing, ground grid testing, DGA/oil sampling, meggering, hi-pot testing, carrier/TTR testing, soil resistivity testing, SFRA, and trip testing.    </span></p></li><li><p><span>Work independently in lab with employees as needed.</span></p></li></ul></li><li><p><span>Provide any needed training or support for Test Department supervision or other departments as needed.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Provide on-site oversight for projects as needed.</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Ensure high quality work is being performed, proper procedures and policies followed, and provide technical and supervisory support as needed.  </span></p></li></ul></li><li><p><span>Provide field storm support as needed for the distribution and transmission system.  Includes substation response, scouting outage/damage calls, and managing circuit restoration.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Provide on-site technical and supervisory support for severe emergencies, outages and other extenuating circumstances (mobile installation, transformer lockouts, equipment failures, etc)</span></p></li><li><p><span>Provide on-site technical support as needed for mobile substation installs, trip testing, transformer testing, troubleshooting, test equipment troubleshooting, or any other technical support need. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Introduce/Promote/Encourage Human Performance Concepts and Practices.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Develop guides/training aides for all Test Department related equipment and processes.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Evaluate new equipment or procedures to be used to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.  Monitor current industry practices, trends, and procedures.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Provide on-site technical support and consultation for substation projects being completed by contractors. </span></p><ul><li><p><span>Periodically visit job sites to ensure contractors are following best practices and standards.</span></p></li></ul></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><p><span>Assist with analyzing all test results/data and make recommendations.</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Prioritize results and make recommendations on next steps.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Determine timeframe for repairs/replacements for all non-critical or emergency equipment conditions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Make recommendations for long term maintenance plans for aging or deteriorated equipment.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Look for trends and equipment deterioration.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Evaluate equipment status and remaining life. Suggest and recommend equipment replacement or repair.</span></p></li></ul></li><li><p><span>Assist with transformer factory field visits</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Quality control inspections</span></p></li><li><p><span>Factory test witnessing</span></p></li></ul></li><li><p><span>Assist with the progression testing of the employees in the Test</span></p></li><li><p><span>Serves as a professional representative of the Company, as assigned</span></p></li><li><p><span>Directs the preparation of applicable computer software</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><span>Qualifications:</span></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Four Year College Degree (or equivalent) in an Electrical Engineering Field</span></p></li><li><p><span>Seven to ten years experience</span></p></li><li><p><span>Union experience, Experience in project management with demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team environment</span></p></li><li><p><span>Professional Engineering License preferred or Subject-Matter-Expert</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p>AES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
