Description

The Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, staffing, and supervision of a library services project at a large, national library in Washington, D.C. This role ensures the effective management of collection materials, quality control of library processes, and compliance with library standards. The Project Manager leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for accessioning, inventory, bibliographic record maintenance, and collection maintenance (e.g. shifting and shelving) while serving as the primary liaison between LAC Federal staff and library personnel. Responsibilities: Manage and oversee library technical services, ensuring adherence to the library’s standards and best practices. Supervise and coordinate the work of library staff, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality service delivery. Serve as the primary point of contact for federal personnel, facilitating effective communication and collaboration. Conduct quality control of materials processed by team staff, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Gather and analyze feedback to enhance service efficiency and ensure client’s information needs are met. Contribute to system or process improvements, updates, and modifications to optimize workflows and to best align to any shifting priorities. Ensure compliance with contract deliverables, including reporting, documentation, and outreach initiatives. Develop and maintain training materials for staff, ensuring adherence to inspection protocols and standards. Create and maintain a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Consistently maintain a positive and supportive attitude, even during high-demand periods, and motivate colleagues with an encouraging demeanor.
