The Sleep Technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to perform comprehensive evaluations and treatments for sleep-related disorders. This includes both in-center and out-of-center sleep studies, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient education, and oversight of sleep center operations. Candidates must be credentialed and licensed in sleep technology.</p><hr><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Sleep Study Preparation & Setup</strong></p><ul><li><p>Review patient history, verify medical orders, and assess individual needs.</p></li><li><p>Determine and prepare testing parameters based on protocols and physician direction.</p></li><li><p>Educate and orient patients prior to sleep studies (in-center or at-home testing).</p></li><li><p>Calibrate and apply sensors/electrodes following industry standards.</p></li><li><p>Perform PAP interface fittings and desensitization procedures.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Sleep Study Monitoring & Procedures</strong></p><ul><li><p>Conduct studies such as MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP titrations, and oxygen therapy.</p></li><li><p>Monitor and document physiological data, sleep stages, and clinical events.</p></li><li><p>Identify and correct artifacts to ensure high-quality data acquisition.</p></li><li><p>Score sleep/wake stages and events using AASM standards.</p></li><li><p>Generate accurate reports and summarize clinical data.</p></li><li><p>Administer interventions (e.g., oxygen, PAP) when needed.</p></li><li><p>Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan (neonatal to geriatric).</p></li></ul><p><strong>Out-of-Center Sleep Testing (OCST)</strong></p><ul><li><p>Prepare, instruct, and educate patients on home sleep testing equipment.</p></li><li><p>Download and interpret data, identifying artifacts or study failures.</p></li><li><p>Ensure adherence to AASM guidelines and infection control protocols.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Operational & Administrative Duties</strong></p><ul><li><p>Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; track inventory.</p></li><li><p>Respond to patient inquiries and provide procedural education.</p></li><li><p>Adhere to HIPAA and infection control standards.</p></li><li><p>Support sleep center operations and quality assurance initiatives.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with clinical staff and assist with training or feedback.</p></li><li><p>Uphold professional conduct and support a positive patient experience.</p></li></ul><hr><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li><p>Current Virginia license in Polysomnographic Technology</p></li><li><p>Credentialed by a nationally recognized certification board with one of the following:</p><ul><li><p>Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)</p></li><li><p>Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)</p></li><li><p>Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS)</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Valid CPR or BCLS certification</p></li><li><p>Proficiency with sleep study software and electronic documentation</p></li><li><p>Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</p></li></ul><hr><p><strong>Why Join Bayview?</strong></p><ul><li><p>Supportive, team-oriented environment</p></li><li><p>Commitment to career growth and clinical excellence</p></li><li><p>Competitive pay and full-time benefits package</p></li><li><p>Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patient care</p></li></ul><hr><p><em>Bayview Physicians Group is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
