No problem! </strong><strong>GET CERTIFIED AT THE Y!</strong></p>\n<p><strong>We offer paid certification training to candidates who have been hired!</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more on Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Hiring Locations:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>North County <em>– <strong>Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA (Encinitas)</strong> - Must be available for at least 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day (Not hiring for seasonal positions)</em> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Central <em>– <strong>Toby Wells Family YMCA (Kearny Mesa)</strong> - Must be available Mon-Fri from 3:30pm-8:45pm and at least 1 weekend day (Not hiring for seasonal positions)</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Coastal <em>– <strong>McKinney Family YMCA (La Jolla)</strong> - Must be available for minimum of 15 hours per week (Not hiring for seasonal positions)</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Coastal - <strong>Ryan Family YMCA (Point Loma)</strong> - Must be available for at least 2 shifts per week (Not hiring for seasonal positions)</em></p>\n<p><em> </em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>If you do not see the location you are looking for in the list above, that is because the location is not currently hiring for this position.</strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li> Instructor enforces safety rules and follows appropriate discipline guidelines</li>\n <li>Instructor ensures that practice time is sufficient for all students to learn skills</li>\n <li>Instructor follows logical skill progressions, and covers appropriate amount on information in time available</li>\n <li>Instructor recognizes and corrects improper strokes or skills using positive feedback</li>\n <li>Instructor communicates effectively with students in a patient, friendly manner</li>\n <li>Administer First Aid and/or CPR as necessary</li>\n <li>Report any hazards or problems to Director immediately</li>\n <li>Educates participants regarding rules and regulations of pool area </li>\n <li>Ability to work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA 4 Core Values </li>\n <li>Models the 4 Core Values in all aspects of position responsibilities</li>\n <li>Visual and auditory ability to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations</li>\n <li>Ability to adequately observe participant’s activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 16 years of age</li>\n <li>Current YMCA Swim Lesson (YSL) Certification or American Red Cross WSI Certification (must obtain YSL within 6 months)</li>\n <li>Current CPR PRO/AED and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Current First Aid certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Current O2 certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Experience instructing swim lessons preferred</li>\n <li>Must pass written and practical skills exam prior to duty</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you.
