GENERAL JOB FUNCTION The Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for focusing on increasing organ donation opportunities by providing oversight of daily organ activity.  This will include navigating challenging case processes, donor transfer coordination, onsite support, staff development, QAPI initiative oversight, and transplant center engagement. In addition, the Clinical Operations Manager will focus on process improvement, developing and implementing policies, procedures, strategies and action plans related to the referral, authorization, clinical management, allocation, procurement and utilization of organs and tissues for transplantation, medical research, and education. Donor Network West takes a market-based approach to pay. All candidates' starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications and interview performance. Our job listings’ compensation ranges include location-based differentials but may not be reflective of a candidate’s final base salary. Location differentials are determined by an employee’s home address, associated market data provided by government reporting and processed by Payroll. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serves in an on-call capacity providing, consistent, comprehensive oversight of all organ donation operations including but not limited to donor referral triage, authorization, management, organ allocation, recovery and post-mortem care. Responsible for providing plan of care guidance, and ensuring all case activity proceeds in an effective and efficient manner. Provides regulatory oversight/verification of critical considerations such as hemodilution, death note(s), and PHS Increased Risk reviews. Collaborates with DNW Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on setting and upholding donor case plans and interacts with physician consults as needed. Advises staff in working through operational challenges by providing mentoring, talking points, and on-site support. Provides on-site staff and operations support for procedures and critical staffing needs (i.e. DCD lead, donor management). Collaborates with management team on staff development directives. Drives organ operations, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives. Responsible for identifying trends and performance improvement opportunities in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer and Clinical Educator. Collaborates with CMO to develop and maintain evidenced based donor clinical management guidelines. Partners with regional management to identify, develop, and implement regional strategies for clinical and hospital education, including but not limited to participating in donor councils, grand rounds, staff meetings and other educational opportunities. Responsible for identification and implementation of transplant center (TXC) stakeholder engagement strategies. Serves as the primary point of contact for TXC concerns, leads root cause analysis, proposes improvement plans and implements change to address improvement opportunities. Engages stakeholders by participating on abdominal and thoracic transplant program quality meetings. Engages stakeholders to develop resources for infectious disease consulting, echo core diagnostic group, DNW case plans and timing reviews, and overall performance improvement. Collaborates with Research Program Director on evaluation and implementation of research initiatives, particularly those focused on prospective donor management trials. Collaborates with referral management team to ensure appropriate resource commitment and process improvement. Participate in and lead donor performance improvement meetings (QAPI, MAB, educational forum, etc). Performs additional responsibilities and projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Advanced knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology, organ perfusion, strong decision-making capabilities, and excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with Donor Network West employees, Transplant Center and donor hospital staff, and donor family members Demonstrate the ability to set and meet deadlines. Capable of developing and implementing policies and procedures. Develop relationships with various researchers, physicians, and research organizations for the purpose of providing options of research and therapy donation. Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE RN, PA, NP, MSN, or BS/BA (years of experience may fulfill educational requirement) ACLS, PALS, BCLS and/or CPTC certification. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in OPO organ operations, actively engaged in donor management/oversight. Thorough knowledge of OPTN and CMS regulations and standards
