Description

We are seeking a Social Data Scientist with a strong background in Statistics, Computational Social Sciences, Economics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Generative AI methods to join our team. PPMI (part of the Verian Group) is a leading European research and policy analysis centre. We help public sector and civil society leaders from around the world, presenting evidence in a way that is simple, clear, and ready to use. We provide actionable insights, develop shared understanding among stakeholders, and enable policy implementation to bring about positive and lasting change. GROW WITH US You'll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you'll need to excel both in teams and independently. Our small AI/Data Science team highly values proactivity and offers significant autonomy, including dedicated time for experimentation and learning.: Opportunity to learn: Work alongside world-renowned experts and established researchers. Training and coaching: We will provide ample opportunities to enhance your competencies across diverse domains spanning policy research methods, statistics, data science, GenAI, machine learning, cloud services, and managerial skills. Salary package: Gross monthly salary ranging from 2200 – 3200 euros , depending on your qualifications and experience. Flexibility and wellbeing: We operate with no fixed office hours and offer fully remote work options (for office-based employees, we allow for remote work from anywhere for up to half of the time). Additional benefits include private employee health insurance*, extra days off, and access to Mindletic Emotional Intelligence Training App. *For office-based employees. COME PREPARED An ideal candidate will have: Educational background: MSc/MA/PhD degrees in relevant disciplines such as statistics, computational social sciences, economics, data science, artificial intelligence, or related quantitative fields. Candidates from other disciplines with demonstrable skills and experience in quantitative research, data science, and GenAI will also be considered. Experience: 1–5 years of hands-on experience in policy evaluation and analysis. This experience should include demonstrable application of statistical, data science, computational social science, NLP, and GenAI methods, along with a track record of tangible contributions. Proficiency in Python is crucial as most of our solutions are built using Python. While not required, knowledge of R, MATLAB, SQL, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript will also be considered an advantage, as would familiarity with software engineering principles, systems design, and/or cloud services (preferably MS Azure). Good understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes at the EU level. Full English proficiency and excellent (technical) writing skills. Important note: We don't expect candidates to meet every single requirement. We believe in building a diverse team with complementary skills, and in today's fast-paced tech world, we value adaptability and continuous learning over existing expertise. If you're confident you can excel in some of these areas and are eager to learn others, we strongly encourage you to apply. BE READY TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF Given the large range and diversity of potential tasks, you'll have the opportunity to focus on specific areas that align with your preferences and skills. Day-to-day responsibilities will include autonomously carrying out and leading one or several of the following tasks: Statistical and Data Science Work: Applying advanced statistical methods to large datasets, developing predictive models, and extracting insights from complex data sources. AI and Automation: Developing methodologies for GenAI solutions in textual analysis, building custom agentic workflows, implementing RAG systems, and creating voice assistants for research applications. Technical Implementation: Designing automated data processing pipelines, developing interactive dashboards, and maintaining analytical infrastructure. Research and Analysis: Drafting analytical reports, implementing evaluation methodologies, and conducting policy analysis to inform decision-making. Client Engagement and Communication: Presenting findings to diverse audiences, translating complex analytical results into actionable policy recommendations, and writing technical proposals. Travel may be required to meet with clients and partners. If you see yourself in this position,  apply by March 31 , 2026 .
