Gates is a leading manufacturer of application-specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. We push the boundaries of material science to engineer solutions that continually exceed customer expectations.
Let's simplify it, think belts and hoses. Found in motorcycles, conveyor belts, cars, tractors, blenders, vacuum cleaners, bicycles, & 3D printers just to name a few. Because why not do it all?
What To Expect
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join our global team.
Located in our Denver, CO office, you will be located at the Gates Headquarters downtown office. This role is for a Sr. Technology Sourcing Analyst reporting to the IT Global Sourcing Senior Manager.
The IT Global Strategic Sourcing team enables the enterprise to acquire the technology products and services that power our business and our family of companies. We partner closely with IT, Legal, Finance, Security, and business leaders to ensure technology investments are strategically sourced, contractually sound, and aligned to business outcomes.
In this role, you will combine strong business acumen, deep contracting expertise, and technology fluency to lead complex negotiations, influence spend and serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders. You will craft and close deals end-to-end—translating business requirements into commercial structures, understanding and negotiating key terms and conditions, and driving outcomes that optimize cost, risk, and value.
You will work with a diverse supplier ecosystem, build durable partnerships with strategic vendors and internal stakeholders, and play a critical role in enabling cloud, digital, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Contracting Leadership
Serve as a trusted advisor by providing sourcing strategy, market insight, and contracting consultation across transactional, operational, and strategic initiatives
Lead end-to-end contracting and negotiation efforts for complex technology and product deals, including NDAs, MPSAs, SOWs, Order Forms, Amendments, DPAs, and Change Orders
Demonstrates advanced contract redlining expertise, applying disciplined, risk-based edits to complex technology agreements while preserving commercial intent and accelerating deal execution
Effectively leverages standard templates, clause libraries, and fallback positions to streamline negotiations, reduce cycle time, and ensure consistency with enterprise risk and compliance standards
Negotiate software and services agreements that support the enterprise’s cloud, digital, and data driven transformation initiatives
Craft commercial deal structures (pricing models, discounting, ramp/true-up, renewal protections, termination rights, and performance remedies) and translate negotiation outcomes into clear, enforceable contract language
Demonstrate extensive negotiation expertise with a command of technology contracting terms and conditions (including liability, indemnities, IP, data protection/security, audit rights, SLAs, and dispute resolution), balancing business objectives with risk management
Execute negotiation and signature closes within short lead times when required, proactively aligning stakeholders, escalating decisions appropriately, and maintaining accuracy under pressure
Partners closely with Legal and business stakeholders to resolve redline issues pragmatically, balancing legal risk, business objectives, and time to signature
Guide stakeholders from intake through signature, ensuring clear requirements, well-defined scopes of work, and adherence to approval and documentation standards
Spend Optimization & Vendor Strategy
Form and nurture partnerships with strategic vendors and internal stakeholders (IT, Finance, Legal, Security, and business leaders) to align on requirements, drive accountability, and deliver best total value—including competitive pricing and favorable commercial terms
Evaluate legacy vendor contracts, performance, and technologies to identify modernization opportunities
Lead the transition from outdated technologies and commercial models to modern solutions, while maintaining continuity of service and strong vendor relationships
Support the identification, evaluation, onboarding, and integration of new IT vendors to meet evolving business and technology needs
Apply strong financial acumen to technology spend management—identifying cost drivers and maintaining dashboards/metrics to support sourcing decisions and leadership visibility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
Identify inefficiencies and risks within existing sourcing, contracting processes
Skilled at identifying non-standard terms, embedded risk, and downstream operational impacts within supplier paper and proposing clear, business aligned alternatives
Design and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, compliance, and cycle time
Leverage standard templates, clause libraries, disciplined redlining, and governance frameworks to reduce risk and accelerate deal execution
Collaborate cross functionally to implement new processes, tools, and best practices across the IT sourcing lifecycle
Contract Lifecycle Management
Support capital spending plans by partnering with IT and Finance on multi-year forecasting, renewal pipelines, and future demand (roadmap-driven) to inform budget cycles and purchase timing
Reporting, Communication & Governance
Provide regular updates and reporting to senior leadership on sourcing activity, process improvements, risks, and progress against Scope, Deliverables and Financial objectives
Facilitate clear and effective communication among stakeholders, vendors, and cross functional partners
Ensure sourcing and contracting activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and Global compliance regulatory requirements
Conduct reviews and assessments to support continuous improvement, quality assurance, and risk management
Requirements and Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree or professional certifications a plus
Minimum of 7 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or contracting
5+ years of hands-on experience negotiating technology agreements (SaaS, data services, managed services, outsourcing), with ownership of multimillion dollar deals strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to craft and negotiate complex commercial deal structures and key technology contract terms and conditions (e.g., SLAs, liability/indemnity, IP, security/data protection, audit rights, renewal/termination)
Strong financial acumen related to IT spend; experience creating/maintaining spend dashboards and metrics to support executive visibility and sourcing decisions
Experience supporting capital spending plans and multi-year technology financial forecasting (renewal pipeline, roadmap-driven future demand) in partnership with IT and Finance
