This community-based approach is a defining feature of employment at The Island School and an essential part of our educational mission.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(46, 117, 181); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Program Purpose</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The Fellowship Program is an immersive, mentored opportunity for emerging professionals to contribute to a progressive educational model while building the skills, experience, and relationships that will shape the next stage of their careers. Fellows live and work on campus, participate in the daily life of the community, and gradually take on increasing responsibility throughout their time in the role.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The Wellness &amp; Expeditions Fellow supports the daily operations of the Wellness Center, serves in emergency response capacities, participates in our on-call system, maintains and teaches proper use of our expedition gear, and champions efforts to educate and support needs across the organization utilizing your unique skill set. This position is ideal for an individual seeking hands-on experience and learning in a clinical, community-based, and remote environment. Fellows work alongside our lead staff, gradually building responsibility throughout their time in the role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone exploring careers and developing skills in emergency medicine, wilderness medicine, nursing, or experiential education.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 10pt\"><br></span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(46, 117, 181); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Program Dates: </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">This fellowship begins in June/July and runs for a full year.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(46, 117, 181); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Program Support:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Fellows receive a monthly living stipend in addition to: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Shared room housing accommodations on and/or near campus</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Daily shuttle access to and from closest town (if you reside off campus)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Daily meals</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Airport transfers to and from Rock Sound, Eleuthera</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Access to regularly scheduled market runs</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Travel reimbursement support</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(46, 117, 181); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Mentorship and Support</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The Fellowship is supported within a strong learning network:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold\">Wellness &amp; Risk Management Director: </span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Serves as the Fellow’s senior guide, providing oversight, skill development support, and regular one-to-one check-ins.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold\">Wellness Center Manager/Registered Nurse: </span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Provides clinical mentorship and guidance on patient care within the Fellow’s scope of certification.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold\">Wellness Center Coordinator: </span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Provides additional mentorship both in the clinic and as a professional in the organization.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Program hours vary depending on program needs. Evening and weekend participation will be required, and special events may require extended on-site hours. The successful candidate should expect to work a variable and mission-driven schedule.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(46, 117, 181); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">The Fellowship Experience</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">What You’ll Do:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Provide patient care within your scope of certification, including triage, assessment, and treatment using OTC medications</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Participate in our on-call rotation with other medical personnel for after-hours emergencies</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Lead lessons and facilitate health and wellness education sessions for students and staff</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Help manage, care for, and teach proper use of our expedition gear</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Escort students to medical appointments and support follow-up communication across departments</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Participate in wilderness- and water-based emergency medicine training</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Support daily operations of the Wellness Center, including documentation, supply management, and facility upkeep</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Contribute to community life through morning exercise programming, expeditions, and community engagement as needed</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Please note that this program description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the position.
