At OHSU, you’ll work with cutting-edge tools and a collaborative team dedicated to shaping the future of imaging.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Mammographic Technologist performs imaging procedures according to physician's orders, utilizing knowledge and judgment in regard to, exposure factors, imaging technique, and patient treatment. Proficient in the field of Mammography and General Radiology.</p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<p><strong>IMAGING:</strong> Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Positions patient for diagnostic imaging according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements.</li>\n <li>Operates imaging equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates.</li>\n <li>Uses computer image processing to select and optimize images. </li>\n <li>Presents exams and related patient information to radiologist for diagnosis.</li>\n <li>Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures.</li>\n <li>Expected to perform the complete range of departmental mammographic exams from Screening to Stereotactic Biopsies.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>DOCUMENTATION:</strong> Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers. </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Correctly identifies patient by checking patient's I.D., full name and DOB according to department procedure. </li>\n <li>Reviews patient questionnaire and orders to insure correct examination. </li>\n <li>Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation. </li>\n <li> Logs activities, gathers charging information and charges exams as required. § Competently performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function to meet MQSA standards.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PERSONAL & PATIENT CARE AND SAFETY:</strong> Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards so there is no injury to self or others.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Protects patients and others in the area by using proper machine settings and radiation safety standards.</li>\n <li>Practices universal and blood and body fluid precautions, and sterile practices according to procedures.</li>\n <li>Clearly communicates and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to insure appropriate and effective care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.</li>\n <li>Maintains awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs.</li>\n <li>Follows all departmental policies and procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Apply the department standards of service excellence to internal and external customers.</p>\n<p><strong><u>PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR</u>:  Practices professional communications, appearance, conduct, punctuality, attendance and attitude that leads to physician, patient and co-worker respect and confidence.</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Informs & educates patient and/or family of all needed information concerning the exam performed.</li>\n <li>Uses professional judgment and presents a professional image of competency to customer and staff.</li>\n <li>Maintains professional appearance, punctuality, flexibility, confidentiality and guest relations.</li>\n <li>Handles stressful situations in ways that promote positive outcomes.</li>\n <li>Must be able to perform all ranges of exams after completion of technical competencies.</li>\n <li>Takes personal initiative to maintain current in education (journals, books, in-services seminars, etc.) in all specialty areas assigned.</li>\n <li>Participates in presenting professional information to colleagues.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Other duties as assigned</strong></p>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate of accredited 2-year Radiologic Technology school or program in addition to required prerequisite training.</li>\n <li>Experience in performing breast imaging examinations including breast screening, diagnostic examinations, duct grams, breast needle localizations, specimen radiographs, stereotactic (core and localization), and other related studies.</li>\n <li>Must have good judgment, decision making and communication skills.</li>\n <li>Registered Radiological Technologist A.R.R.T. (R) is required with current Oregon licensure. \n  <ul>\n   <li>Must meet MQSA requirements for mammographers. </li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Registration in ARRT (M) Mammography within six months from date of hire.</li>\n <li>BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.</li>\n <li>Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging license.</li>\n <li><p>Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole</p></li>\n <li><p>Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in Digital Mammography</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p><strong>Relief employees</strong> must be available to work at least four (4) days per pay period as determined according to the department needs</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Pay Range:</strong> $42.74 - $58.70 per hour with offer based on experience, education and internal equity</p>\n<h2>Why apply to OHSU?</h2>\n<b>We are Oregon's only public academic health center.</b> In addition to caring for patients, we lead groundbreaking research.
