    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Our clinical training program is open to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">current graduate and PhD level students</span> seeking a degree in counseling, psychology, or clinical social work. Please thoroughly review the attached <a href=\"https://montrosecenter.box.com/s/lim7nw81s85qw0rnshoqung9zqodlgcg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clinical Practicum/Internship Projects</a> document with our intern expectations, projects, and application process before submitting your documents.</span><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Under the supervision of a licensed therapist, clinical student intern will provide professional individual, group, and/or families/couples counseling regarding a variety of life issues and behavioral health conditions in an atmosphere that is safe and affirming toward LGBTQ+ individuals and persons living with HIV/AIDS.  Intern will also complete psychosocial intake evaluations, attend weekly group and individual supervision, and complete assigned clinical development projects, including a clinical theory presentation and case consultation presentation.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Before you apply, you should know: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">minimum </span>of 8 <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">consecutive </span>months (or 2 <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">consecutive </span>semesters) is required given the extensive training process for interns; you must be enrolled in school during both semesters. </span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Fall-Spring cohort runs August through May </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Spring-Summer cohort runs January through August </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Summer-Fall cohort runs May through December </span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Students are expected to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">continue seeing clients over extended breaks/between semesters </span>(or arrange for clients to be seen) for continuity of care. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Two (2) evenings per week and a minimum of 16 hours per week is <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">expected</span>. A flexible schedule allows more availability and opportunities to work with clients. No weekend or late evening hours allowed the first semester (done by 8:30 p.m.) </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">There is a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">mandatory week of training </span>before your classes begin, and it is only offered three times per year – generally the week before semester classes begin in January, May/June, and August. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Since interns regularly conduct intake assessments and utilize their DSM-5 diagnostic skills, a working knowledge of the DSM-5 is expected, and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">completion of a DSM-5/diagnostic class is required </span>prior to starting internship. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Previous clients of the Center must have terminated services at least 2 years prior to starting internship position. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Accepted applicants will be required to complete a drug screening prior to starting, and are required to be COVID-vaccinated. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Bilingual interns are always an asset! </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Application Process: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Applications are now accepted year-round, but we will only review applications during the timelines indicated below:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Summer-Fall cohort - </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Applications are accepted through March. Interviews and selections are made in late March/early April. </span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Summer-Fall 2026 cohort interns have already been selected.</span></span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Fall-Spring cohort</span> - Applications are accepted through March. Interviews and selections are made in late March/early April. </span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Fall 2026-Spring 2027 cohort interns have already been selected.</span></span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Spring-Summer cohort</span> – Applications are accepted through October, then interviews and selections made by late October/early November.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Applicants should submit a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">cover letter </span>indicating your interest in working with the LGBTQ+ community as an intern at the Montrose Center and a focus on development of clinical counseling skills, as well as a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">resume or curriculum vitae (CV) </span>that includes clinical classwork you have completed. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Submit all documents through the BambooHR portal on the Montrose Center website. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Once we review applications, we will invite selected students for interviews. Interviews are 30 minutes in length and are conducted by a panel of agency clinicians and intern supervisors. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The interview panel will provide feedback on the interns they feel are the best fit for the agency, and we will make offers to the student directly.
