The Biologist will be involved in all phases of Project work from approvals and pre-construction through to construction or abandonment.<br><br><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><br><br><strong>Leadership:</strong><ul><li>Conduct, direct and coordinate multi-disciplinary field surveys</li><li>Act as a technical lead to project team</li><li>Cultivate a work environment committed to the health, safety and wellness of employees.</li><li>Establish a highly efficient and positive culture where employees are empowered and accountable for areas of responsibility.</li></ul><strong>Biologist:</strong><ul><li>Lead various discipline surveys for input into environmental assessment and compliance projects (e.g. wildlife and vegetation surveys)</li><li>Provide specialized advice to project team on considerations related to wildlife and vegetation</li><li>Act as a resource to construction personnel and explain wildlife regulations and how they are applied in the field</li><li>Verify that biologically sensitive areas are properly marked and flagged before work is done in the area and develop mitigation strategies where required</li><li>Lead field kickoff meetings</li><li>Inspect areas of concern as identified and make appropriate recommendations to construction personnel, as required</li><li>Review field reports for consistency and accuracy</li></ul>Perform other duties as required.<br><br><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><ul><li>Post-secondary degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field of study</li><li>Formal leadership training preferred</li><li>Minimum 10&#160;years professional experience as a biologist, or related role</li><li>Experience conducting environmental surveys&#160;</li><li>Professional experience working on projects regulated under NEPA or state-equivalent would be considered an asset</li><li>Experience related to utilities construction would be considered an asset</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills &#8211; data collection and interpretation, technical report writing, regulatory permit applications, client communications, etc.&#160;</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communications skills</li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, prioritizing and decision-making skills</li><li>Excellent attention to detail</li><li>Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision</li><li>Detail-oriented, self-motivated and highly organized with strong problem-solving skills</li><li>Ability to build strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office</li><li>Valid Driver&#8217;s License, with ability to maintain insurability under the company&#8217;s insurance carrier</li></ul><br>At Canacre, our benefits program is one of the ways in which we reinforce the value we place on employees and the role they play in helping us achieve our goals.&#160;Canacre&#160;offers comprehensive health and dental coverage, paid time off, and disability insurance.
