Position: Resident Life Coach Supervisor
Supervisor: Director of Supportive Housing
Overview: The Door empowers young people to reach their full potential by providing comprehensive youth development services in a diverse and caring environment. At The Door, youth can access health care and education, mental health counseling and crisis assistance, legal assistance, college preparation services, career development, housing supports, arts, sports and recreational activities, and nutritious meals – all for free and under one roof.
The Door operates two Supportive Housing sites, East 9th Street (The Foyer), which consists of 28 individual studios and 12 one – bedroom, for families, and The Lee, which consists of 55 units: studios and shared suites providing social service supports for the young adults that reside in the Supportive Housing Programs, located in the Lower East Side and Alphabet City. The Door's Supportive Housing program ideally serves young adults aged 18 – 26, some residents range in upper 20’s to mid-30’s, who are experiencing homelessness and may struggle with managing mental illness and substance use. Some clients may also be aging out of foster care or may have young children of their own. The goal of supportive housing at The Door is to support the residents in maintaining permanent housing, maintaining ADL’s, developing appropriate coping skills, and working towards greater independence. The Resident Life Coach Supervisor will be responsible for providing direct management and oversight for residents and staff at The Lee.

Responsibilities:
Directly supervise two Resident Life Coaches and two resident aides and provide individual delivery of services to the residents of the housing program, ensuring goal focused skill development and support of residents. Tasks may include
Monitoring and reviewing all documents (case notes, service plan and psychosocial assessments, etc.) completed by Resident Life Coaches, with an attention to ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality documentation.
Ensure that the resident aides are developing groups that fit the needs of the residents.
Follow up with the Resident aides to complete inventory checks, complete wellness checks, and identify residents who are high risk and that need wellness checks.
Ensure timely communication between all shifts.
Review shift reports being completed by the Resident Aides.
Complete a Supervisor Review/Assessment for clients in the residential program
Ensure program case contact expectations are being met by staff
Provide weekly supervision, support, and guidance to Resident Life Coaches to monitor individual case load assignments, ensuring case equity whenever possible.
Monitor on a monthly basis Key Performance Indicators required by contracts and funders (Data Driven Assessment Supervision)
When appropriate, assume direct coaching responsibilities for select cases
Collaborate with the Program Director, Assistant Director and RLC Supervisor at the other site, building partners, and other program leadership, ensuring that both program and resident needs are being met; this includes data driven supervision of direct reports and self, monthly reports, and quarterly reports to The Door and funders.
Provide support to residents and staff in the milieu environment, responding to crises as needed
Coach program staff to develop and use a clinically informed practice that serve youth and young adults
Participate in rotating On-Call schedule, staff supervision and site management (weekends/holidays are part of on-call coverage)
Develop weekly tasks for resident aide including assistance and observation of weekly programming for residents.
Review of all shift and incident reports
Sit on a treatment team to address incidents
Facilitate housing staff meetings, create agendas, and assist with staffing schedules
Attend all relevant meetings, training, workshops, and outside events.
Other responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a mental health, social service, or education-related field, advanced degree preferred
Minimum of two years of experience coaching or case management with young adults with mental health, substance use, and/or developmental challenges
Experience with coaching staff to develop professional skills
Knowledge of and experience using positive youth development and trauma-informed principles to inform individual and group work with clients
Excellent organizational skills
Preferred Experience
Previous supervision and case management experience
Previous experience working with young adults and families with young children in a residential setting
Knowledge of NYC Housing Systems
Previous experience conducting interviews and assessments of clients
Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
Experienced at coaching other staff and driving professional development
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 35 hours/weekly; includes evenings and some weekends. 1 late night 10 am - 6 pm
Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 annually
