Description
Adjunct Faculty professor in Dance, teaching Ballet from introductory to advanced levels. Set choreography, working with students and other faculty for 2 to 3 performances per year.
Employed on a per-load-unit basis for a given semester or term. Sole contracted responsibilities are those activities required in the delivery of a course (e.g., mentoring/coaching, preparation, teaching, grading, office hours). In some instances, there may be some contracted responsibilities for advising, course development or meeting other departmental needs.
The department produces 4 Theatre main stage productions and 3 Dance concerts within a given season. The productions in our season serve as a lab opportunity for the students in our program so that our students can gain real production experience.
The department offers a B.A. in Theatre, a B.A. in Dance, a B.A. in Dance Education (PreK-12 Teaching Certification) and a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. It is staffed by three full-time faculty, a staff technical director, and a production manager.
Mission Statement: As a community of Theater and Dance artists we cultivate the stewardship of intellect and imagination in a forum for civic dialogue as we seek to understand our calling in Christ.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate classes on an as-needed basis. Create and maintain a course page in Canvas LMS structure; design and grade assessments of student learning; respond to students in a timely manner via weekly office hours and/or email.
1. Responsible for teaching 1 section of Ballet I and 1 section of Ballet III in the fall semester.
2. Responsible for teaching 1 section of Ballet II and 1 section of Ballet IV in the spring semester.
3. Opportunity to choreograph for Dance performances.
4. Supervision of students in dance spaces.
5. Evaluating student work and submitting course grades as required.
6. Maintain regular office hours.
7. Complete the University’s general education assessments as required.
Responsibilities specific to the class taught will be communicated on an individual basis.
Qualifications
Advanced degree or significant experience in the area relevant for the course that will be taught. Candidates must evidence the potential for strong classroom teaching and positive student interaction and mentorship.
