font-size: 16px\">Position Summary:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Through on-the-ground restoration and community stewardship projects, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Alaska Youth Stewards (AYS),</span> an employment program for rural and Indigenous youth, aims to provide youth from rural Southeast Alaska with well-supported pathways to becoming empowered and responsible leaders who contribute to our region’s cultural vibrancy, economic prosperity, and ecological resilience.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\"> </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px\">Essential Functions:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Work Ethic:</span> Demonstrating dependability, timeliness, and professionalism</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Monitoring and Reporting:</span> Collecting environmental data for Tribal, community and partner projects</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Community Support &amp; Outreach: </span>Leading and participating in community events and sharing out AYS project work throughout the summer</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Labor:</span> Hiking long distances, carrying heavy equipment, and potential wilderness camping</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Teamwork &amp; Collaboration:</span> Working constructively with other crew members and collaborators, and following instructions from crew leads</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Traditional Harvesting: </span>Participating in harvesting, processing and sharing of traditional foods for community members</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Maintenance &amp; Construction:</span> Clearing trails, building structures like bridges or boardwalks, and revitalizing habitat while taking care of and maintaining all tools, gear and equipment</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Safety Compliance:</span> Operating hand tools safely, using personal protective equipment (PPE), dressing appropriately for the weather and mitigating risks daily</li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul></ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
