These positions promote the development of skill acquisition and experiential learning through community exploration. You will be responsible for the direct care and support of individuals in the program. The <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Direct Support Specialist </span>works with individuals on a variety of skill building groups and activities including social skills, communication and language, academics, vocational skills, community behavior and activities of daily living. You will utilize strategies to teach social and communication skills.<br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Requirements:          </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of high school degree or GED.</li>\n<li> <span style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">MUST </span>be at least 21 years of age and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">HAVE a valid driver's license with a CLEAN driving record</span></span><span> </span>and a willingness to use agency vehicle in the course of employment.</li>\n<li>Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing</li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills</li>\n<li>Basic computer skills</li>\n<li>Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirement.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">MUST have MAP and CPR Certifications</span> which are up to date and in good standing</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preference:</span>                               </p>\n<p>Degree, experience working with persons with developmental disabilities in a vocational setting, CPR, First Aid and Crisis Intervention Training.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Summary Description:</span></p>\n<p>Provide support for Specialized Supports or Community Based Day Services participants with a focus on skill acquisition and experiential learning through community exploration.  Develop community connections. Create lesson plans to run groups.  </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Duties and Responsibilities:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the supervision of the clinical management team, the <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Direct Support Specialist </span>is responsible for the direct care of individuals in the day program, including the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.</li>\n<li>Work with individuals on a variety of tasks throughout their day (tasks may include social skills, communication and language, academics, vocational skills, community behavior and activities of daily living)</li>\n<li>Utilize strategies to teach social and communication skills to allow program participants to succeed in the community</li>\n<li>Identify resources and materials for skill-building instruction and training.</li>\n<li>Plans, coordinates and schedules activities, outings and use of facilities.</li>\n<li>Teach, train and act as a role model for individuals in the program.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Adhere to all treatment plans for the individuals, maintain records, write progress notes and complete annual assessments.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Consistently collect accurate data for individual programs, daily living skills, vocational skills and behavior (frequency, antecedent-behavior-consequence, duration, etc.) in a timely manner<br></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor and ensure the health, safety, rights and dignity of individuals to encourage their independence while in the program, at community work sites and in the community, in accord with individual choice and human rights.</li>\n<li>Plan, participate and implement service planning, attend regular supervision meetings, staff trainings, staff meetings and individual meetings as assigned.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Support program participants’ right to express their religious affiliations and cultural traditions through preferred and relevant activities.  Support diversity of individuals served through respect of religious preferences and/or cultural backgrounds.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Benefits:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Generous personal and sick time available to all full and part time employees.</li>\n<li>Employer paid Life, Long Term Disability, and AD&amp;D insurance offered at no cost to the employee.</li>\n<li>Competitive Health, Vision and Dental Insurance with a substantial employer contribution towards the cost.</li>\n<li>403(b) retirement plan with employer match.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p>New Hire Bonus</p>\n<ul>\n<li>New Hire Bonus offered after successful introductory period for Full Time hires.</li>\n<li>$2,500 New Hire Bonus for Full Time MAP Certified hires.</li>\n<li>$1,000 New Hire Bonus for Part Time hires.</li>\n<li>Paid out in two installments at 3 months &amp; 6 months.
