Position Summary
The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for leading and maintaining the daily operations of the dairy department. This role ensures product availability, freshness, food safety compliance, and an exceptional customer experience while supporting sales growth and team development.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
Oversee daily dairy department operations including stocking, rotation, inventory control, and merchandising
Ensure all products meet company standards for freshness, quality, and proper dating
Maintain attractive, full, and well-organized displays that align with company merchandising plans
Monitor and adjust orders to meet sales demand while minimizing shrink
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise, train, and coach dairy clerks to ensure strong performance and engagement
Assign daily tasks and ensure completion of all operational priorities
Promote a positive, productive work environment focused on safety and teamwork
Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management in partnership with store leadership
Customer Service
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product inquiries and needs
Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate when necessary
Maintain a clean, welcoming department that enhances the shopping experience
Inventory & Shrink Control
Ensure accurate inventory practices including proper receiving and storage procedures
Execute product rotation (FIFO) to reduce out-of-date product and shrink
Identify and address shrink opportunities and implement corrective actions
Food Safety & Compliance
Maintain strict adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards
Ensure proper temperature controls and monitoring of all dairy products
Follow company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous grocery or dairy department experience preferred
Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Comfortable working in refrigerated environments for extended periods
Work Environment
Fast-paced retail setting
Exposure to cold temperatures in dairy coolers and storage areas
Flexible scheduling including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pay Transparency:
Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
*For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
