The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, empowering them to access the curriculum and achieve academic success. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Conduct assessments of students' functional vision, visual functioning, and educational needs to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional goals.</li>\n <li>Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in the areas of braille literacy, adaptive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with visual impairments.</li>\n <li>Teach students compensatory skills, such as tactile discrimination, spatial awareness, and auditory processing, to enhance their independence and participation in educational activities.</li>\n <li>Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to facilitate students' access to the curriculum and promote their independence in the classroom and school environment.</li>\n <li>Provide consultation and training to school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies for supporting students with visual impairments in educational and social settings.</li>\n <li>Monitor students' progress, collect data on skill acquisition, and adjust instruction and interventions as needed to promote optimal outcomes.</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, assessment results, instructional plans, and communication with families and educational team members.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Qualifications:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or Special Education with a focus on visual impairments.</li>\n <li>Current state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).</li>\n <li>Proficiency in braille literacy, including knowledge of braille code, instruction, and assessment.</li>\n <li>Strong understanding of visual impairments, including low vision, blindness, and related disabilities, and their impact on learning and development.</li>\n <li>Experience working with students with visual impairments in educational settings, preferably in PreK-12 schools.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, school staff, and related service providers.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in assessment, curriculum adaptation, and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.</li>\n <li>Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for individuals with visual impairments (preferred).</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Benefits:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Competitive salary</li>\n <li>Comprehensive health and wellness benefits package</li>\n <li>Flexible work arrangements</li>\n <li>Opportunities for professional development and growth</li>\n <li>Collaborative and supportive work environment</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Equal Opportunity Employer:</p>\n<p>E-Therapy is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
