This role includes direct patient care, surgical procedures, postoperative management, and participation in quality improvement activities.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Work Schedule</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Standard clinical and surgical hours: <strong>Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM</strong></p></li>\n <li><p>No routine evenings, weekends, or federal holidays unless otherwise scheduled.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Primary Responsibilities</h2>\n<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2>\n<h3>Clinical Care (Approx. 85%)</h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Provide outpatient neurosurgery clinic services, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning.</p></li>\n <li><p>Perform neurosurgical operative procedures within granted clinical privileges.</p></li>\n <li><p>Conduct inpatient consults, bedside evaluations, and follow-up care.</p></li>\n <li><p>Provide intraoperative presence for all assigned neurosurgical cases.</p></li>\n <li><p>Conduct postoperative rounds in surgical units and intensive care settings.</p></li>\n <li><p>Deliver discharge education and coordinate follow-up care.</p></li>\n <li><p>Communicate test results to patients in accordance with established clinical standards.</p></li>\n <li><p>Document all patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Surgical Services</h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Perform a broad range of neurosurgical procedures, including but not limited to:</p>\n  <ul>\n   <li><p>Spine surgery (cervical, thoracic, lumbar)</p></li>\n   <li><p>Decompression, fusion, and instrumentation</p></li>\n   <li><p>Cranial and ventricular shunt procedures</p></li>\n   <li><p>Diskectomy, laminectomy, and laminotomy</p></li>\n   <li><p>Microsurgical procedures</p></li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><p>Typical workload includes approximately:</p>\n  <ul>\n   <li><p>8 patients per clinic session</p></li>\n   <li><p>3 surgical cases per operating session</p></li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Administrative & Quality Activities (Approx. 15%)</h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Participate in morbidity and mortality conferences.</p></li>\n <li><p>Attend neurosurgery and surgical staff meetings.</p></li>\n <li><p>Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.</p></li>\n <li><p>Complete required quality and outcome documentation.</p></li>\n <li><p>Adhere to patient safety, infection control, and risk management standards.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>MD or DO from an accredited medical school.</p></li>\n <li><p>Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurosurgery residency.</p></li>\n <li><p><strong>Board Certified or Board Eligible</strong> by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.</p></li>\n <li><p>Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.</p></li>\n <li><p>Current <strong>BLS and ACLS</strong> certification.</p></li>\n <li><p>Eligibility for credentialing and privileging at a VA medical facility.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Professional Standards</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Practice medicine in accordance with:</p>\n  <ul>\n   <li><p>American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) guidelines</p></li>\n   <li><p>Joint Commission standards</p></li>\n   <li><p>VA clinical and patient safety standards</p></li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><p>Maintain continuing medical education required for certification and privileging.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>About Aptive</h2>\n<p>Arrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
