Description JCC Denver is a vibrant community hub dedicated to connecting, building relationships, and enhancing our members' overall health and well-being. We offer high-quality programming for all ages, including fitness, wellness, aquatics, childcare, summer camps, and much more. We are seeking an Aquatics Instructor to join our team. The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction for all levels of American Red Cross swim lessons to participants of all ages and abilities. Role and Responsibilities Effectively teach all levels of swim instruction under American Red Cross standards, possessing full knowledge of the skills at each level. Effectively communicate with parents about the appropriate class enrollment level for all children. Maintain familiarity with the registration process and current class schedules. Provide ongoing, effective communication regarding all classes and programming with the reception desk. Prepare award certificates, patches, and cards upon course completion. Ensure the safety of all swimmers by implementing preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations. Enforce all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner. Provide a quick response to emergency situations in the water/deck area. Be knowledgeable about all aquatic information and programming. Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform. Be timely and punctual when reporting to work. Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean, and orderly. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications and Education Requirements High school education preferred. Community C.P.R. certification. Standard First Aid certification. Experience teaching all ages and all-American Red Cross levels. Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic. Positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the job and facility. Ability to troubleshoot and anticipate problems. Consistently exhibit team spirit, promoting a productive environment. Maintain a professional and confident character, with a tactful ability to communicate with participants. Demonstrate the ability to cooperate and work with others. Demonstrate consistent integrity, dependability, and responsibility, and be able to meet deadlines. Possess effective verbal/written communication and expression. Adaptable and flexible under stressful and/or unusual situations. Excellent customer service skills. Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational. Professional manner, discretion, and appearance. Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury. Work Hours: varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment. Able to show initiative and make decisions. Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance) Ability to stand for long periods. This position requires the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Benefits Overview This part-time position is not  benefits-eligible. Paid Time Off is a day-one benefit accrued based on years of service and hours worked in compliance with the Colorado Health Families & Workplaces Act. Part-time employees of the JCC who regularly work 20+ hours per week receive a complimentary individual membership to the JCC’s Fitness and Aquatics Center and a range of staff discounts, including year-round access to the JCC’s fitness center and heated pool. Part-time employees of the JCC who regularly work 20+ hours per week are also eligible for a wide range of discounts, including up to 20% off for the JCC’s Preschool and Summer Camp childcare programs, discounted tickets to Mizel Arts and Culture events, discounted program and class costs, and more! All employees of the JCC are eligible to join the “JCCs of North America” (JCCA) community, which includes access to the JCCA’s resource center, ongoing professional development and networking opportunities, as well as educational stipends for qualifying employees.
