The LVN assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. This position is a crucial part of the service delivery team responsible to ensure quality of care, patient flow and compliance with regulations within the scope of their respective nursing license. Primary tasks are to assist the Health Center Manager at the site. LVN's may be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Finally, the LVN position provides or facilitates the provision of information needed by both patients and clinicians. Furthermore, they ensure a smooth and well-connected patient flow. The LVN reports to the Health Center Manager. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Works closely with the Health Center Manager and other members of the clinic management team to:</li>\n <li>Under the supervision of the Health Center Manager will provide oversight for medical support staff, including providing feedback for performance reviews.</li>\n <li>Supports the quality improvement and compliance goals of the health center by ensuring that UHC meets required regulations as defined by BPHC and other contracted entities.</li>\n <li>Review physician orders, labs results and care instructions with patients, answering questions and administering treatment under the scope of their prospective nursing license.</li>\n <li>Communicates with appropriate personnel as necessary, to examine, revise and evaluate inner-clinic processes to promote efficiency</li>\n <li>In-services provider and nursing staff as needed regarding procedures, forms, and procedural changes, etc.</li>\n <li>Will assist in supply orders and inventory control. (McKesson, Cardinal, VFC)</li>\n <li>Provides oversight for clinic medical support staff in the absence of the Health Center Manager.</li>\n <li>Provides prompt medical support; promotes a smooth patient flow; collects and records data accurately; maintains order of exam rooms, equipment and supplies</li>\n <li>Provides basic education and information to patients, making sure patients' questions are answered and anxieties alleviated and interfaces with community-oriented activities and staff</li>\n <li>Achieves the organizational mission to provide health care access for all the members of the community. Helps make sure patients and families get the care they need when they need it.</li>\n <li>Consistently and openly communicates with the Health Center Manager and all staff.</li>\n <li>Works flexible or extended hours where necessary.</li>\n <li>Must be able to travel.</li>\n <li>Participates in health center in-services and meeting, listening and respecting others' ideas.</li>\n <li>Must be able to do duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>Abides by Rules of Confidentiality.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PERFORMANCE AREA 1: Nursing Duties</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports patient access by screening walk-in patients and routes appropriately.</li>\n <li>Meets regulatory and continuity of care by utilizing standing orders and established</li>\n <li>screening guides under supervision of physicians. Supports the internal and external patient care by taking responsibility for outpatient medical chart using SOAP method of charting.</li>\n <li>Supports patient access by providing telephone advice regarding care per health center protocol.</li>\n <li>Supports the efforts of the providers by supervising the functions in treatment room and is primary in this regard.</li>\n <li>Supports patient care by assisting the physician and/or provider in procedures and pelvic exams</li>\n <li>Supports patient care by administering medication and treatment ordered by physicians and/or provider staff.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Completed LVN training program from and accredited school.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid LVN License</li>\n <li>Possess a valid Driver's License</li>\n <li>Possess a valid Lifesaving Certification</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PRIOR EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 1 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an ambulatory care setting</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>SKILLS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bilingual Preferred but not required</li>\n <li>Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player</li>\n <li>Customer-service oriented</li>\n <li>Strong computer skills</li>\n <li>Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques</li>\n <li>Positive professional insight</li>\n <li>Flexibility and dependability</li>\n <li>Demonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgment</li>\n <li>Effective leadership/supervisory skills</li>\n <li>Modern office practices and procedures including email</li>\n <li>Intermediate computer skills</li>\n <li>Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasks</li>\n <li>Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously</li>\n <li>Must perform duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).</li>\n <li>Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.</li>\n <li>Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.</li>\n <li>Must have high manual dexterity.</li>\n <li>Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The hourly wage range that UHC reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire starts at  $30.75 an hour.
